Frank has the skills to pay the bills. That is outstanding job Frank. Congrates Ira, It looks wonderful. Sound wise does it still need work?

i think both tweeters were 1/2 dead :sadno:
frank was not sure if the mids were making ANY sounds ?? :'-(

so --there should be // could be ..............some m90 type potential -- :angelic: :-O
because the 40 bass is VERY tight and DEEPER (MY opinion) than the m90

so ....i sort of HOPE it needs LOTS of 'sound work'

:-)

MONOLITHIC

The surrounds on those woofers already give the BomBeat 40 a BIG advantage over the woofers in the M90, so if you say it has deeper bass, I most definitely believe you!

As ultra rare and beautiful as that box is, I hope it does sound better than the M90 when it's all said and done.

i hope so too :-)

its going all the way to san francisco for re-capping and for whatever else it may need
:-O --so - we will know nothing --untill then -
when it could be as good as factory specs
------------------------------------------------

now --is a good time for my 'sound performance theory'........

consider these considerations :-)
by the numbers::::

1. lets agree that the famous formidable m90 output - was THE target.
2. lets further agree that toshiba corp is/was an enormously capable outfit
3. and that boombox sound quality was not rocket science :dunce: :-D
4. and that the m90 prolly had no serious patents or secrets or any proprietary components
5. and that its obvious ---that toshiba put forth a grand effort to make their #1 grail
6. and they stuck some huge funds into the custom cosmetic design -- RIGHT !!!!

7. and there surely did not do all $$$ that --- to make the second best boomer :-) :hmmm: :-D

therefor ......................................... :-D

--------------------------------------------------
all other conflicting or supporting theories are now very welcome
 ;-) :-)

....unless...somehow they did not succeed on #7, in which case they squashed production...hence the rarity.

God, that was negative huh? Here's hoping that it is indeed the rarest, m90 killing superbox!

SD might put some kinda turbo changer in it.... :surf:

Wow, what a killer looking box! Frank, you do some astounding work, man! What patience you have!!!!! Pure respect, bro!

And let's all hope that SD can put some kind of turbo charger in it... 'cuz it wasn't even a close sound contest against my stock M90. I hope it ends up sounding like it looks!!!!! And right now, that box looks like it's pumping out 125 db just sitting there... I had to turn down my computer when those pictures came on screen, volume went up on its own and just totally blew me out! :w00t:

As for that chip in the tweeter frame, how about delicately smoothing that down a bit just to take the cracked looking edges off prior to hitting it with a sharpie??? I bet that would make it another 20% more unnoticeable.

Great project, great story, and I'm glad my B- looking M90 handed it some humble sonic pie while it still could.... I expect that to be different the next time they meet!

It's one thing killing an m90 but my m90's no chance

Here are the results of my first resin casting.
Creating the mold was probably the most challenging part.
I am very happy with the result and the part is a near perfect replica.
I will paint the trims tomorrow and reinstall them.

making the mold out of silicone rubber from my homemade mold box.

Frank..... You absolutely rock!!!!!

So how did you get the fluid resin between the two partsof the mold? Just placed it in-between and squeeze out the excess, or did you pour it in delicately and have air escape holes?

I'm quite curious about more of the details... would be a great topic to discuss over a beer, eh???

Anyway... just gotta say results (and efforts) are astounding...

Thanks guys I was very nervous I would screw this up but it turned out good.
Jaetee this is called a squish mold just pour the resin in press the two halves of the mold together
and wait.
Sounds like you have done some research , are you thinking of trying it???
