The Lenco would be my first choice. They aren't built great but very easy to work on and have decent sound through the range. Big radios too.

With so many opinions it is very hard for me to decide which to buy it. Each model has something that the other does not and so on. :-)

Except kaboom, which model do you think has the best sound and bass?

The Lenco has the 2nd strongest bass, after the Kaboom. But the Universums have better quality, more precise sound. Actually the RX-5500 has the most precise sound of all these boxes, but it doesn't have as much bass as the Universums.

- PANASONIC 5230-F - 89 euro
- Panasonic RX-F32LE - 89 euro
- Telefunken CR50 - 157 euro
- Siemens club 722 - 101 euro
- Sharp unknown model probably WQ series - 22 euro very cheap, someone told me that these models have a very good bass. Do you know more details about these boxes?
- Crown Csc 850 - 499 euro, good looking one but very expensive
- UNIVERSUM model CTR 2304U - 56 euro
- SHARP GF 5757 - 56 euro

The Telefunken is beautiful and will be lovely to use, the Crown 850 while an awesome box is well over priced. The Sharp you mention is ugly as sin.

Just my two peneth worth

The Crown 850 is now the best-sounding box in this thread. I have one and it's awesome and easy to work on. But it's only worth 200-250 euro in nice shape, or less if it's not nice.

Why do get the feeling this thread will never end and Gerbil will never choose one? :hmmm:

Crown 850 is the best choice. It sounds fantastic.

Make sure it is the 850L, not the 850F. The 850L has real metal knobs, and more features.

Shipping it is risky. The chrome bars on top are easily damaged.

The Siemens Club 722 is the same as the Bush BR 5902. This is quite an easy box to work on with the front & rear casings separating from the central section of the case, it can be just a little tricky to open but worth it. This particular BB is a 'Tone box' but the tones are comfortable and warm to the ear. I like mine.

These are all pictures from the Crown 850L seller. The seller says that the unit is serviced, clean and has all original parts including the playback head antennas. The belt was replaced with a new one.
Do you think it worth 247euro in this condition?

The Crown 850 certainly is a cool looking box - unique 'strap only' carrying system is unique for sure.

One of the easiest boomers to service.

The bassy sound at low volume levels is a stand out feature too.

Level 2 construction quality, a basic deck and limited power output keep the prices reasonable. The condition of that metal top panel is a very important factor when considering value.

Ask him for close-up photos of the chrome bars on top. The plastic case around those bars is often cracked due to careless owners.

I just found something very strange on sale without too many details from the vendor. Does anyone know what is it? It looks strange.
Bang & Olufsen - 89 euro

I've never heard one of those B&O's. They might SOUND good, but they look so boring.

I have one of those B&O ones, very classy looking but not exciting (tho the minimalist design is pretty imo), very nice warm sound, also a bitch to work on.

Reli is right, for sound, good and loud, looks the Crown 850 is hard to beat. That Supersound 16000 from previous pages is also an awesome mid size box tho.
