Nice, Mel! How did you fix the cassette door?
Bobby I cut a piece of clear plexi glass to fit the opening, then painted the backside of the plexi to match the pattern on the original door. I attached the plexi to the existing cassette door hardware frame. Looks close enough to factory and fully functions and holds cassette tapes.

Man. That chrome outright EXPLODES!
Riker this radio has the most metal like chrome I've ever seen on a boombox. The thickness of the trim rings combined with the quality of chrome absolutely pops! Most beautiful radio I have ever seen.

Strap looks nice. Where do you attach it to? Would this work on the GPO? That box weighs a ton for what it is. For a re-pop, they sure got the weight spot on!!

On this box it has seatbelt style buckles that click in. However blu_fuz has straps which connect to the handles of boxes without strap clips

Just finished assembling this Bolt Box for sound testing after some repairs. Next it's going in the paint booth

The original paint has some faded spots and scratches and the grills are bent beyond repair. I have some spare grills in black. The plan is to repaint in the original silver and repaint the black grills purple.

I’ve got a soft spot for these. Good luck with it.

Picked up this RC-575 last week. Gave it a good clean/wash, painted speakers (kinda close to right colour?) For a tone box it sounds pretty good. I'm liking it a lot.

Putting the Brooklyn through its paces. Had this thing cranking all day to the point where it is warm! Transferred my iTunes library to MP3 onto a clear USB stick. Sounds really good on this radio. Yesterday the Culture Club tape came in the mail. When was the last time you unwrapped a new cassette from the 80's??!!
So the cassette portion sounds clear but a considerable auditory of wow and flutter. Not impressed with the tape deck but it is what it is. Would have been nice for it to work properly so as to take advantage of transferring tapes to USB. Thats shot for the most part... My Sanyo M9935k played the tape clear and loud. Either way, I accept it for what it is. Battery life is still on par for about 4 hours. Lasts 3-4 days unplugged with the meters off.
Need to save up for the M90... Do they really go for 2-3k?

It is as described by many as having a weak bass. Mids and highs are great. I would think a little Dynamat inside would help control the hollowish sound. Overall, I am still happy for what it is. Full volume ends at 30 which is decent for indoor living and maybe a patio party.

"Do they really go for 2-3k?" For two or three grand, American? For a "mint condition" JVC RC-M90, "King Of Classic Boomboxes" contender that it is? Uh, yah. (And then some LOL) A minute or two on eBay will dauntingly prove that point. :-D

I know what you mean on the tape deck of the GPO. The playback with specific tones almost sounds as if they used a stepper motor...lol. I think the flutter we're hearing with this tape deck is with the motor. I only notice it with certain sounds on playback.
