There must be something wrong with my RC-656 as all I get is very nice and clear mids and highs but zero bass! My TRK-8080 kills it for bass just to give you an extreme example. The JVC is really clean and fully serviced and 100% working with fully cleaned pots etc but low levels of bass force me to leave it on the shelf.

James..... :-)
Strange. I currently have two, have had several more through the past couple of years and only once met one that coay not now be attauldn't do decent bass. That example had a faulty VR in the tone correction stage of a/f. I think that a very small slater or maybe a dying slug had been in there as the track on that VR was covered in some verdigris-like slime.

My 8080 wasn't bad for an Hitachi, bass wise, but the 656 had it licked - comprehensively - every time. That said the only less bass-rich box here would be another Hitachi as seen below the 656 in the vids but that responded well to corrective surgery.

My newly functioning tape deck in my Jvc m-70 by the firepit, cranking skynyrd! Definitely know why you guys love this boombox! Managable size, great sound, and great looks! Hopefully with restored sliders by superduper even better sound!

Boomus Fidelis
My second Sony CFS99
Surprisingly my other Sony CFS99 didn't sound as good as this one.

This is a very unique box! The bass is great and the treble is Excellent!
It is a whole different experience listening Jazz music...

If you find one in decent shape don't let it go...

Now that's badass...^^^^^^

If it sounds that good with a classic tune that the whole world loves, then it sounds good, period!

One thing I never understood about that song though but: Why is being sent to Arkansas used as a threat? :hmmm: Is it a form of ostracism, like being "sent to Coventry".

Blasting a little AC/DC here this morning, the Technics SA-C05L still has what it takes to wake me up.

I think it's "back to Arkansas" and seems that it implies two things:
1. She's from the "back"woods country, and
2. He's gonna send her "back" to her family.

Ahhh yes, AC/DC. Loves me some Highway to Hell right about now...I miss Bon Scott every time I turn on the radio. :-/
