This is really bad ass
I actually have on of these. It is really cool love how the cassette mechanism shuffles. Kind of scared to use it though as I don't want it to break on me so it usually just sits on a shelf..

Recently I've seen a pic of an Hitachi if Ićm not mistaken, with 3 (yes three) walkmans as part of the detachable portable unit. Looks a bit like late 80s or early 90s model.

Now I can't find the pic or the model no.

Anyone? I was amazed with configuration, although, it design is fugly. One walkman seams to be player&recorder (dictaphone), second one is just walkman, and third one is walkman with fm radio. Really strange stuff.

WOW, does it work? I would like to see a full thread on that radio!
Yep. :-D I don't think the deck works anymore. (I need to rebelt it, etc.) Need to get the other deck to complete it as well. Here's some pics I took awhile back:

This is a crazy Aiwa...digital tuner, looks to be a slide in cassette deck, storage compartment...WILD!

Your's is different from the one above. The one above has 2 removable cassette decks and a tuner. Is that a storage space behind the graphic?

Not a storage space. :-D I can locate the tuner or EQ there and lock in the second deck on the top once I get around to getting the other. The cover is simply to avoid having a hole exposed. :-)

No biggie. I get that question a lot. Most people ask what in the heck was the designer thinking. I will post some more pics in another thread. You won't believe the heatsink coming out the backside of this lil' beast. And the speakers, while great sounding, are woefully overpowered by this lil' monster. I have some tricks up the ol' sleeve though. ;-)

Absolutely one of the most interesting radios I've seen so far.
