Wow you're on it! You do all that and upload in the matter of an hour??? With kids in the house?

I need a hands down bow emoticon. My phone browser won't do it.

Thanks guys. Hopefully the BT module will be here early next week. I still need to patch up my spare front case and paint it.

I might go custom with this color.....

Finished transplanting the guts.

Shined up the switches, rings, and plexi.

Fresh paint on the grills.

I also decided to fix the cracks on this case because the front is so mint. I will only have to paint the sides. Someone tried gluing the crack at the bottom and it made the crack fit together like crud. I had to scrape and sand the glue out before using acrylic cement.

So awesome that this new BT module showed up already. Even better that this one is in a hard plastic case so I was able to open it and check out the goodies!!!!

It looks like the BT module chip is piggy-backed to the voltage regulator board so you can pump 12v into it direct instead of the 3v-5v the module needs.

$30 on this one from Amazon.

I will give a full review/test of it later tonight. I won't know the range until it is in the boombox and finished. Maybe I can buy in bulk to offer the modules here for cheaper.

EDIT, WTF - the company already bumped the price from $30 shipped to $35 shipped!!!!!

Some progress.

This new BT module doesn't make any sound when you turn it on. That was a great feature on the last box. So I added blue LEDs that will light the VUs when the BT is on.

I also desoldered the REC/MUTE switch and used the board and metal bracket and soldered a new switch in its place. Lines up better with the top plate hole for the button.

I just need to figure out why the M70 doesn't power on until I use a cassette function. And sand the side panel and repaint that small area.

So where did you get a switch for this one? I know the first was almost a direct replacement with a 922 I think you said. How but this one?

The 922 had 3 switches that were perfect. 1 I used for my discolite power switch and the last 2 went into the M70s. I will buy one of the ebay switches and review it on the next BT M70 in my collection that I will keep.

It all started with you man. I wouldn't have even tried using a rechargeable BT dongle.

Ever since then I have wanted a better option. My courage to try this on a popular box finally got to me and off I went.

I'm glad the technology has advanced to a level that I like.

Now, I ordered a 3rd style of BT module today. I will be getting a small stock of switches (because I have 4 M70's I still want to BT).

I can't wait to test, review, and compare the 3. I already see huge differences in the first 2.

The first 2 BT M70's were bought to install, test, and sell.

After I decide what BT module I like best, then I will start to BT a lot of my blasters INCLUDING the OG TDK 2 speaker, JVC M90, JVC M71, and a handful of others.
