Yeah, this paint is much more "true" to the original. Best way to tell is where the new paint meets up to the old finish up by the top panel controls.

Running a performance test today on the new LED kit in the M71. Leaving them on all day. Also a good pic for comparing the M70 and M71's colors.

Thanks buddy.

I really like the new LED kit a lot. No drilling into the chassis, no screws, no tiny nuts and no little connectors to the new board. Seriously Norm, I love the new kit.

I forgot to take pics when I was installing it, sorry. It was late and I was rushing a bit.
Looking very nice Joe, but you must tell us how the new kit is installed!!

looks incredible compared to the way it was

fixing the boxes up is hard work , hell after working 12 hours straight on the vz 2000 taking it apart putting it back together 57 times was like going 12 rounds with apollo creed  i didn't even want to look at after that but it works now so it was worth it :-D

hah thats so true, I just finished a job on my little Sanyo7880,
the one in my avatar pic, and started off thinking it would be just a a small upgrade job to get me warmed up and ready for working on my m70 Led upgrade,
But that took all evening into the night fixing, cleaning, and reopening till it was done just right lol.
So on vacation from that for now lol.

ODE to my Ebay M71

Cheap BIN on an ebay grail
Only 75 + shipping how could I fail
You looked good from affar
But up close it looks like you were hit by a car

My heart strings are broke
I thought it was a sick joke
I have to bring you back from the dead
so you are clean enough to play while in bed

Strip you down
Paint you up like a gold clown
Clean your crevises
(****, no word to rhyme with crevises)

It's been a chore to make you pretty
You could make my wallet as fat as our kitty
But you are too nice to let go
I will keep you and set beside your M70 bro

Melly should compose a "Hit by the Car" poem too.

haha this thread is a real inspiration for me.
It is quite frankly pretty amazing.
did you do anything to the chrome corners of the handle?
I have a box that has same issue with what looks like pits.
and did you find out what was issue with the tape deck?
Anyway for your poem maybe have to just change words like in place of "clean your crevises"
You can try
"cleaned you with care,
better than anyone hoped to dare.
or something in that direction.
Later and thanks for this thread.

Great job Joe! Ira should be required to detour all of the boxes he sells through you...

Totally agree. :-P

Thanks MAXX. All I did for the chrome handle ends was clean them. They still have some pitting but it at least looks better. Maybe I will try to polish or just replace them when I can. I still didn't get back into it to deal with the tape deck issue. Some day  :-D .

The ONLY issue lurking now is that the cassette play/ff/rw only works for a few seconds then auto stops. I did change the main belt already. Funny thing is, the cassette was fully working before :dunce: . Not sure what's up with that  . I tried to loosen up the plate spring screw to soften the pressure on the flywheel but no luck  . Maybe I should throw the old belt back in....... :hmmm:

For some reason the M71 cassette is all good now  . Just took it out again for booming at work, popped a tape in, and no problems :w00t: . Maybe the new belt was too tight..... I did give it a little stretch workout before I installed it originally. Oh well, who cares - IT'S ALIVE :surf:  :breakdance:
