Just changed the garage radio from the GF-575 to this Philips D8778. I've had a lot of Philips boxes and most have been a disappointment but this one pounds pretty well! 20220716_192145.jpg

That's a great looking boombox.
Sounded pretty damn good in the video. I'm pleased to see that sound design put so much effort into an old school box. I would love to have one.

Well it essentially a re-worked GE Blockbuster Floyd. The deck is the same, the back cover etc. Meter placement different but it’s really the same thing. Got this on a trade with Reli.

Yeah, the headphone jack, 8 buttons and 5 knobs are just like an SCR-8.
That's a cool box.

I have this Tectronic as my new Gym radio, I don't know anything about these, it was just a very cheap buy, listed on Ebay as a transistor radio!

It sounds pretty good with lots of bass. It needs a good clean as a couple of the sliders are a bit crackly. 20220719_192954.jpg

This is an aka of the cap 10 = captain model boombox.
Very rare boom box . I think I've seen 3 including this one in my life time.

That's interesting, I don't ever remember seeing one for sale when I was a kid. Not sure what shops would have stocked these in the UK?

I really only bought it because it looked really traditional and I liked the leds. I didn't expect it to sound as good as it does.

I've never seen your box before but I recognize many of the parts (LED, tuner window and screws, VU, handle etc) as being the same as my Candle JTR 1249. I've seen others like the Poppy that are direct AKA's of the Candle, but your Techtronic has the cassette controls along the bottom. A very cool box and very good looking!

Cheers Brutus, I'm glad someone else likes it! I also have this one that I bought recently, branded as Radiotone but very similar. It's still sat in my car restoration garage and I haven't tried it to see if it works yet.....
