Wow, that's the very 1st time I've heard someone describe the M90 - even if it's in mint condition - as "beautiful". :-D

...fellas :thankyou: so much for all the great feedback. A lot of care and passion goes into my work and it truly feels great to get this kind of response... :-D ...now that I have had a few days to play with the M90 I see what all the hype is about. This thing is loud and sounds incredible...but it is quite heavy when filled with batteries, but well worth the pain. Once again I can't thank you guys enough for you comments...this is truly a boombox lovers paradise!!

How's it compare to the lowly Sony FH, Melly?

Now there's a tough one. Having heard both I would guess (and not answering his question) he'd agree that the M-90 would still fall to the Sony "if" the Sony FH-7 had the Ni-Cad pack versus the D Cell pack. The Sony ends up the loser on D Cells. On AC it'll slaughter the M-90. :-)

It's always VERY wrong to compare a 1-piece box to a multi-piece box! :nonono:

i think the m90 design is all balls // no bling = beautiful

The color STILL sucks, in my opinion! :-D Really, it's the only downside in an otherwise good design.

You have a point...BUT!

When you have a very large contingent saying that component boxes aren't grails, is it not fair to compare the sound quality between designs as that it primarily what sets component units apart?

Of course by design the Sony will spank it. From a calculated numbers standpoint on a test bench it would. And audibly, in the real world it does.

But would the Sony have that "classic" factor so many speak of? In most minds, probably not.

So...classic looking box that in reality sounds mediocre from a true audio standpoint? :hmmm:

Or fantastic sounding box that at first glance may or may not stir emotions? :hmmm:

Things that make you go hmmmmm....... :hmmm:

To me, it's not about the looks, it's about the way they were built. Multi-piece boxes like that Sony have MAJOR advantages over all 1-piece boxes - the main one is having the woofers enclosed in wooden cabinets. Another is the power factor... It's not a fair fight at all. :sadno:

On the other hand, I take comfort in the fact that those heavy hitting multi-piece boxes are so heavy (and if they take batteries), you can't carry 'em around any neighborhood - which basically make 'em house boxes. :-D Admittedly, I don't have much use for boxes I can't easily move around.

The FH7 has it beat on overall power and sound richness, but I think the M90 has better detail in the highs...I am gonna do a 3 way sound battle with the M90, FH7, and DT680 tomorrow...stay tuned..... :-D ...I think the winner may surprise you...

I agree with you Mono, but it says a lot about the M90 that it takes something with so many advantages to take it down...and not by much...on batteries though, the M90 is the absolute KING!!

You are right about the color...very bland...that's why I chose to add a little bling factor to the color I chose. It has mad sparkle in the sun but very subdued indoors. The best of both worlds.... :-D

You have the FH-7 with the two ways right? Not the MK-II or III? :hmmm:
