My M90 arrived safely from the East Coast so I opened her up for a test run. The sound was beautiful as expected but there was two small issues. The paint needed some attention and the case vibrated during moderate bass output. Both issues are an easy fix so I decided to take her apart. I completely stripped the front case and back cover to prep for paint. During the strip down I found the cause of the case vibration. There were a few loose screws in the case and chassis and the back cover had a hair line crack down the entire left side. I cleaned the back cover and applied a silicone based glue to the inside of the cover and the crack will not be noticeable after paint. The front case will be painted in a Tungsten Grey Metallic with a gloss clear. The rear cover will get a darker Metallic Grey with a clear coat as well. Today is day 1 of the project and here are some early pics...
Initially I applied 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear but the clear made it look way too shiny, so I sanded it down and only applied 2 more coats of paint. That made a huge difference!! The color is a very close match but it has the slightest bit more metallic content than the original. Here are some shots of how the front case and rear cover look after paint...I also painted the speaker and tweeter grills, handle and the black accents arount the tweeter trim...and the cassette door...
