Is that a vinyl wrap? Looks cool whatever it is.
I've had an idea for a while, just wanted to try it out first..
Looking at listings on epay for different woodgrain vinyls were very spendy..
Found myself in the dollar store yesterday to purchase some detergent, when I spot a roll of this stuff for 3 bucks!
It's used to line the inside of your cabinet drawers..self adhesive backing!
Not going to be a permanent fixture on this unit, just wanted to jump start the creative process on this Blaster again! :breakdance:

The sad reality is that my Boomboxes are a hobby, so they take a backseat to the other projects that pay the bills..and keep me busy! I've been organizing my boxes in "order of importance" so I can systematically get them all Kustomized!
I'm not sacrificing quality for quantity! :breakdance:

The factory fresh Lasonic woofers don't get installed until its done done.. They are just so dang white! :-D

The main reason I wanted to see the woodgrain was, I was picturing a candy woodgrain on this box..like I painted the steering wheel for my 47' Chevy.. thought the kandy rootbeer would make the chrome POP even more! :pimp:

This is Testors candy emerald green.......with no base, silver base, and gold base. The silver base (the middle one) looks the best IMO. Would look hot with white speakers.

2 coats of testors candy emerald green over white spoon then a silver spoon then a gold spoon.jpg

Oooo nice color choice.

I like the silver base a lot as well.

The gold base seems to look a lot like a deeper emerald (at least from the pic).

You are on the right track, Reli.. The color I've had since the beginning is a shade of green..but, it's also a shade of blue..and a shade of white! I'll post a pic here shortly..

Candies over silver are brighter, over gold they are richer, over graphite/charcoal they can be deeper too..

So, if you ever sell that radio, are you giving them wood?
This is the only other box besides my GF-9000, that will never leave my grasp.. It was just a figment of my imagination, and has become REALITY! :breakdance:

It's a very cool concept with all those big speakers in a row! Have you confirmed your plans for the internals yet?
A mid powered efficient D class amp (like in the Exos-9) would really drive those speakers hard and wouldn't add much weight to the total. They're very inexpensive too!

Looking forward to seeing your creation come to life!

James..... :-)

Here's the color I've had in mind, with those new white speakers it'd be TOO FRESH!! :breakdance:
It's a paint made in the UK, I've been trying to find an easy US distributor..image.jpg

If not, I'll have to mix up my own concoction of different pearl Basecoats.. I call it Aqua Ice Mint!

I had planned on using the original internals, so I could have FM and AUX.. But, I'm not against running a bigger D amp!
I have a Lepai, but think I'd need one with bigger RMS to push these speakers..
What rechargeable cell do you use in your DIY boxes..? :hmmm:
