I’ve been trying to figure out what’s going on with mine. The speakers work much better when running on batteries. Not sure if I messed something up when I used my adapter to plug in the supplied cord from Indonesia. I realized later that the box is rated for 110v and maybe 120v messed with something. I’ll ask about it in the tech talk forum.

I’m not an expert with the voltage but I use some of the Japanese boxes that are rated for 100 here in Ontario. I don’t think that would’ve made the big difference. Either way I’m done with overseas buying. At least you can use it with batteries. Buy some rechargables. Does everything else on the radio work good? I have an M 70 and it’s really loud so it should be pretty loud.
Everything else works. Cassette player has been good, other than eating a tape the first day I got it. But I was playing with all the functions and maybe eating the tape was my fault. I cleaned the head and pinch rollers and it’s been good since.
Still waiting for a jvc 838 from knobzstore. Its going on 6 weeks now. I know the covid situation is really bad there and is affecting indonesia post....its also economical class shipping. I am worried as well

Don't worry about it. When they say 110 they mean it was intended for North America. Over the years household voltage has increased -- Today the typical US/Canada range is "expected" to be 114-126, from what I've heard.

The m70 and toshiba never came. Last tracking said left originating country. He did refund me my money back so I really can’t complain. I agree He does seem like a nice guy. I’m still not convinced that something sketchy wasn’t going on though. The document said 10 lbs for 2 boomboxes that he sent me with the tracking. I do see a couple others got their boxes though so it’s a gamble.
What box did you get and off what site? I got mine from Etsy.

i have bought a crown 970 from him through ebay.....im glad you had a refund that's great....interestingly enough on his ebay feedback he has refunded or cancelled an order on a couple of high value items like a dragon....the only complaint i would have so far is about the shipping cost as it seems very high but i offered nearly half of what he was asking for the crown and he accepted, so it evens out a little
