Well, I'm at a very interesting stage with this radio! Nearly all the paint is done. Some minore little touches of gloss need to be added to some of the black areas, and I'm still deciding what colour to paint a couple of things, like the handle bar, the counter reset button and possible the domes of the speakers. I decided to gloss them all up as it really gives a nice contrast. I'm thrilled with how the colours have come out and the rock/granite effect I painted on. It looks very close to the original vision and same cases I think this improved over the mock up.

The next thing is to get all the stickers made up for all the functions, I've got about 90% of this done, apart from doing some re-jigging they should be off to the screenprinters on monday or tuesday and he said he'd get em done in a week. I'm leaning towards getting the writing all done in black as it would really give some contrast and tie in with the rock colours. The other idea I'm playing with is pink and yellow text, over the opposing colours, but I don't think I like the idea of the yellow writing around yellow switches. Still thinking about it. I need to reprint all the tuner/VU graphics I've made up too, as the colour I printed isn't as close as I'd like to the green paint colour, but that's not big deal. Apart from that and a few other minor decisions to make she's all but ready to rock and roll!! So, have a look at how she's come up and let me know what you think.

Colours look sensational with lovely contrast to the granite. I'd be going for black labeling too if it were me.
As for the speaker caps, maybe do pastel coloured rings on them?? not paint them completely..just around the O.D. of the caps which would keep it subtle enough but break up all the granite there is when the grilles are off. Just an idea anywho.

Thanks for the comments, rockers!

Bill: the tuner/VU graphics were all made up in Publisher, just like all the button function labels.

I do believe I'm settling on a medium gray for the button functions, basically the gray tone from the rock finish. I was leaning towards black for the text, as Scotty suggested too, but that won't work around some of the functions that have a black background below the tuner. Gray should tie it together nicely!

I just need to re-jig some of the function text templates for optimum fit and then send them off to get printed.
But I will reprint the tuner/vu graphics and replace them with a colour much closer to the right green.
