i'm guessing those woofers are more like mid woofers than mid range speakers being that they have a separate enclosure.

They are really scratchy, i would bet they are trashed. Ill source some new ones and transfer dust caps.

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/340789/Yamaha-Ns-9595.html?page=2#manual

The user manual for the NS-9595 calls it a 4-way, 5 speaker system. Shows some strange numbers for the speaker sizes, where are they measuring? I need to figure out if I should be looking for 4" or 5" mids.

Woofer = 43cm / 17"
Mid = 12cm / 5"
Tweeter = Horn
Super Tweeter 5cm / 2" & Piezo

Here are the mids I am considering, but one is 4ohm and the other is unknown:

I am no tech Joe, tho have fiddled with my share of gear, but your manual shows the crossover frequencies to fill are between 900-4000 hz for the mid and I do not think the 1st set will get you there. Those are woofers not mids and may be crossed at less than 3K. The second pair may be ok but again, without proper specs, hard to say. Sure would be good to know the original specs of that mid tho.

Do you need them to be Yamaha?

Can you give the the dimensions of the drivers (including magnet diameter) and the mounting hole? I have oodles of mids on hand here that may do the job. Special discounts apply, lol, just shipping from here, :thumbsdown:

Just a thought

I guess they don't need to be Yamaha, was trying to keep it the same brand but maybe that isn't realistic.

NZ boom, are those 12's in your NS-7373? I love white vintage speakers.

Did some research on the pre amp KC-206.... mine is doing the same thing. The volume bars in the digital display are stuck at 1/3 volume no matter how much I crank the volume dial on the unit. The volume does increase through the speakers, but very quiet.

I need to get a remote, set the remote volume to 100%, and just use the dial on the unit to make it crank.

Kenwood remote control unit #RC-206, maybe RC-70, but I saw another one that looks like it could work RC-6010.

Anyone have info on either of these remotes, or should I just go for it?

I stuck the original mids back in to test the amp/pre amp now that I have the remote.

I can't believe it, it worked!!! Put in batteries and slammed the remote volume to max! I can barely crank the volume to #3 before puss'n out its so loud.

It revealed some dirty ass button switches and probably a broken solder pad on the pre amp output RCA jack. I can wiggle it enough to work but I need to get in it and fix.

Something else I noticed was the horn tweeters don't really seem to be doing anything. Not sure what's up with that.

Either way I'm a happy camper. The remote cost me the same as the entire system! Hhahahahaha

Nice! You'll love the amount of room inside home hi Fi gear for repairs. I've bought a few three /
Four way speakers with dead tweeters and mid speakers - a sign the speakers may have been pushed pretty hard in the past.

The internet really does amaze me sometimes - how would you have known you just needed a remote to get amp pumping without a search engine!

James.... :-)
