The sections with text are masked off, that was the reason why I went with the closest match for the new paint because those areas with text will still be the original finish :-/ .

If I had a way to screen print the text, it would have been different.

I'll get pics of the masked parts and add it to my restoration thread.....

in my opinion ,,,i like the original color also the top will blend better i belive with a close match.....also not really to worry because the gold trim kinda breaks it up...

True  .

I am also going to clear coat over the masked areas after the color is on the rest of the box. That way the entire top panel will have the same satin gloss finish and a little more protection over the remaining text.

So the moral of the thread is, if you want to take chances be prepared to get BURNED! I do take a lot of chances on boomboxes and usually end up on the better end of things. I think this situation will turn out to a good learning experience and I get to practice my boombox restoration skills again! Check the new thread in the restoration/customization section  Thanks for following!

Hi Joe,looks like you are close on the paint color.
Just an idea, bring the front to a really good body shop and see if
they can match the paint exactly!!
Just an idea.
Thanks for letting me know on the antennas, that's usually the case.
Would like to see the beater maybe next month if time permits.
Good luck on your resto!
