a ripper means something mean and nasty ,the good ole crocodile hunter used to say 'what a ripper' whenever he would corner one of those huge deadly snakes lol.

The Pioneer SK-757

- Having a good old scout around the radio spectrum, MW,LW,FM, and the weird and wonderful sounds of SW.

And impressed at how our BBC Local Radio stations still sound nice and smooth and fairly uncompressed, unlike the spitty, gritty sound of our commercial stations.

Been giving the Sharp 8989 a work out in the kitchen playing my 'Classic 80's Grooves' Mastercuts cassette (track when pic taken: Let's Groove' by Earth, Wind & Fire).
Always impresses me how nice these sound, not the best mid-size box ever built but still very respectable and oh-so-classic looks, possibly one of my top boxes for looks, features and pretty good (and loud!) sound.

Pulled out the 90 today:

I almost forgot just how good this is for a 1pc boomer.
Yeh, I know there's enormous hype about this one, but there's IS a reason for that :-)

First, I'm working through some more old skool tapes (one in the pic is from 1987 with LL Cool J, Mantronix, Jazzy Jeff + Fresh Prince, Eric B, Beastie boys, Public Enemy, T La Rock, Schoolly D & more):

... & then onto the 2009 tour setlist for Coldplay I have as a playlist on my iPod. I'm going to Wembley to see them on 18th Sept & want to start my "revision" early :-)

yeh, c'mon Nicolle, get some tunes on :-)

I'm still playing the M90. I worked through 26 Coldplay tracks, emailed my work on time (working from home today) &then back onto the old skool tapes (Grandmaster Flash, Herbie Hancock, Rock Steady Crew, Shannon, Afrika Bambaataa, Whodini, Dazz Band, & more).

I have to say the M90 sounds significantly better playing an over 20 year old TDK cassette than it does with the iPod. OK, the cassette was a posh TDK (AD-X or SA) made on a decent HiFi system with Dolby C (which JVCs Super ANRS matches perfectly), but I was still a bit surprised. That's one great deck on an M90 :-)
