What Boombox Are You Cranking Up Right Now??

I saw all his Triple Crown wins. " He's moving like a tremendous machine!", one of the best announcements of all time along with the 1980 men's hockey teams win over Russia. His heart weighed around 22 pounds, a normal horse's weighs around 12. He still owns all three time records in the Triple Crown. He was STILL accelerating at the end of the Belmont stakes, incredible, with no jocky's whip applied. 51 year's and holding. If he was allowed to run as a four year old there is no telling what he might have accomplished. I guess being put out to stud is just as good lol. My family has owned and shown Tennessee Walking Horses nearly my whole life. Not anymore.
Where I live it's all farm land and horse farms . even my neighbor has 3 mules lol. People literally ride horses on the road I live on.

Hi everyone- I have to ask:What boombox are you listening to or cranking way up to I should ask??This can be an ongoing thread-other days just put the "other" boomer your listening to.

Mine this week is:My original JVC-PC-55JW I bought brand new in 1985'.
There is just something special about listening to an original 80's boomer that you personally brought brand new.
It's so powerful-I love it!!

I'll have to get out all "The Papers"-Yes Tony, your not the only one that has all his papers on his original boombox.

So-let us all know what box your cranking out to!!
Have a super weekend-GB. :-) :-D :-P
Most of mine have bad cassette players, so I have them all tuned to the same radio station and I crank them all up while I’m in the garage

Thank you Floyd. I have already been looking at aftermarket speakers. There are a pair of 55 cabinets with original speakers for sale on eBay but they want about as much ($200) as I gave for the radio. What about closed back speakers? My hearing isn't great anymore but I can still hear the difference in speakers. I can't afford an M 90 anymore. I should have kept the one I had 13 years ago. I had an PC 11 and liked it a lot.
As far as I remember Radio Raheem (Reno) tweaked his with either Altec Lansing or Alpine speakers which he said were an immense improvement. I'm going from memory here so don't quote me.
For my 2 lousy cents of advice....if you want to mod the speakers, definitely keep the originals. Wait for a 550 being parted out or a beater unit to come up for sale and mod the crap out of the enclosures. I love my 550 but I've relegated it to being a shelf queen now. It's just too fragile (LCD).

Lastly....enjoy that beautiful box. For me it marked the end of the square box, feature laden 80's boxes, that eventually gave way to the dreaded egg box

I need a damn bib when I look at this thing . looks a damn battle ship . this is one of the most magnificent boomboxes I've ever seen.
Agreed.
I bought mine years ago and recapped both of them because of some leaky caps.
The black one arrived with both woofer magnets detached so I replaced them with chrome dust capped speakers.
I actually think they look better than the original plain black woofers.
I replaced the antennas on the silver one which wasn't easy but they look pretty good and more importantly, work well.
These are the only two boxes I've never put away in storage.
They're just too cool looking, almost like military equipment.
Adding to the looks is the feel of all the detented knobs, the definitive clicks of the switches and the way the doors pop open then fold down.
They're definitely the highest quality boxes I've ever owned.
