I think he meant to say North Korea built it FOR East Germany, not sure how that's known. The emblem is for Studio Technik, they also made the Club 5006.
North Koreans get their radio over a wired system you can't turn off, but if you own a radio I think it must be purchased by the state, who makes them tunable to only approved stations. Normal radios do exist but they're very illegal and hidden away and listened to in secret.

"Old Repairable" was on the bench for another seeing to. The idler tyres had given out so I took the opportunity to buy the replacement set of mechanicals that had been on my eBay watch list for the past year or so. Didn't really need to but I figured when was one of them ever going to go on offer. Quite the modular - easy to fix - machine. At any rate, I had damaged the wires to one of the play heads and some plastic bits had broken off the old ones. Working fine now...
