7 Days ago I thought I was the luckiest guy in the world! My personal grail showed up on Ebay a Sharp 999, listed as a 9 out of 10 and fully working! I snapped it up and waited. Today it arrived!

Hmmmm... box is a little small?

Okay, we've got a dent......

IMG_1059.JPG

Shipping box is distorted, oh no.....

Okay there is bubble wrap, fingers crossed...and then.....

And the bigger picture...

So I guess this is the perfect picture to sum up how NOT to pack a boombox for shipping:

If the shipping box is the same length as the boombox your shipping, probably not a great sign!

I contacted the seller, puff0435, and he asked me to contact Ebay, so we'll see......

Wow.....I was THIS close to hitting the button on that one, before you did....

That sucks dude. He paid only $23 shipping for that thing? I take it he must live on the east coast too? Might have been worth it to drive and pick it up.

It looked like there was only one layer of big bubble wrap. Is that correct? There really needs to be at least three layers of big bubble wrap around the entire box. Better yet, wrap so much bubble wrap that you can't even see any boombox color at all.

Man, that sucks balls. You can ask sellers to wrap it a certain way and offer to pay extra for shipping, but most will just ignore you.

Damn man .What a shame. The first GF 777 i got was packed the same way. Made a trip from China to my place
Not one problem. Box was fully intact. It's just that shipping companies in the US throw with everything . No respect for other people's goods

Sorry you're having to go through the same ****, but you will get it sorted and boomin' again.

Here's the same box blastin' against a 777 at Chris' meet:

Whatever you do, keep the box! There are plenty of people here who can sort whatever issues it may have.
Stay strong!

Go!

Also, go through the box and all the packing material looking for parts before you move or discard it. I lost a switch cover by not doing so, but a member (Kenpat) sorted me out!

BTW, nice 1D cards; my daughter would love 'em! ;-)

Go!

Good gracious!

Is cardboard, bubble wrap, packing tape and foam going up so high no one can pack anymore? Hell, you can get the stuff for free if you go to a store that has leftovers from restocking shelves! I bummed for you my man. Hope you can get it straight. How's all the functions? Are the internals busted? :hmmm:

And I will say this, shipping costs do not equal great packing. If I feel it necessary, I will ask questions if the shipping costs are really low or really high. Especially of larger items.
