I present to you, what quite possibly could be the rarest Lasonic of all time!

The Lasonic TRK-200 Karaoke machine!

YES, that is an 8-track player!

So now your saying, "But Chris, this is a forum for boomboxes and boomboxes have handles and take batteries! :-/ :nonono: "

But this does have a handle and take batteries! :w00t:
20161006_204127.jpg20161006_204100.jpg

The date code in the battery compartment says 1987 and since it's all in Chinese (???) I would say, overseas (Taiwan?) only.

The speakers fit into the cabinet for transport and are secured in with two screws.

And needless to say, she is a wreck  :'-( BUT...She will get the full spa treatment! :w00t: :-D

There seems to be no information on this system anywhere on the net, so we're going to have to do a full write up and document it all.

@Superduper, would this be a candidate for a write up on www.wikiboombox.com?

Here's the hard part....anyone ever seen keys like these? Someone rigged up a play button, but I would like to find the right one. If anyone has any information, please PM me. I also need a power button cap.

I love that ocean of knobs! I could rebuild 5 931's with all those! :w00t:

20161006_204735.jpg

I haven't tested it on batteries, BUT THIS THING POUNDS!!!!!

So far, gsbadbmr is the only one who has ever seen one, as he used to have one and showed me pictures, but his didn't have these bottom stickers. If anyone has pictures of one of these with the stickers, please post them, I would love to recreate them.

This thing must have 10 gallons of beer on it  and another 5 pounds of dead bugs in it   I can't wait to find out what speakers are in it!

Size comparison...

It will be interesting to see if anyone else here has one, or used to have one!

I agree, I hope someone pops in with pictures. I opened one of the speakers, because I wanted to try cleaning the grill, but sadly, I don't think it's going to be possible, as they sandwiched the grill in the wood when they built it, so I can't remove it. But I did pull the speakers. LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT DUST CAP next to the white Lasonic's

Well that is a rare one for sure! Got to be worth the work just for its rarity :-)
I think it may end up in the hands of Albert Chen, owner of Lasonic for his personal collection after I clean it up.

This thing had foam in front of the speakers, just like the 935, so I yanked that out. I also scrubbed off the sticker. There was just no saving them. I took pictures, so if I see others where I can see what they really look like I may remake them. I did my best to straighten the grill, but since it can't be removed, it's so so. I replaced the speaker wire and RCA plug.

From 2 feet back they look great and the HUGE chrome dust covers are AWESOME!

Those speakers, like the rest of the unit are unique to it. The speakers are marked as Lucky, so they are indeed Lasonic products., Lamost got the other one finished. I'm just trying to get the thing clean enough to be in the house!

It looks so cheap and tacky but I absolutely love it. I'm calling DIBS on that! Three ways with Lasonic 8's!? I bet that thing will thump. I'm seriously calling DIBS. My girl and my buddies' girls love doing Karaoke when we drink.

I got it clean enough to put it in the house, there was some seriously nasty funk on that thing. I'll be washing my hands for a month! Just think, every drunk setting their drinks on top while the take the mic. It was also full of bugs! EWWWWW
20161009_203453.jpg20161009_203503.jpg
Later on I'll open up the electronic's and clean it all. As of right now, one channel is not working. I haven't tested the deck or 8 track. I did clean all the knobs as they were encrusted with nasty goo.

Chris, if this Karaoke machine falls in my hands, I certainly will work on a way to attach the speakers right side ob the main unity...

Nice find.

Cheers.
Well, there is a possible destination for this machine, more on that later.

The speakers are 4 ohm 30 watts! You will probably never see 4 inch mids and 3 inch Lucky speakers anywhere else. Crazy!

Ahhh yes, the old work horse! I have had that for 20 years and I got it from my dad who had it for....you guessed it! I have rebelted it, rewired it, it gets lubed once or twice a year, still going strong!
