I just read this thread and glanced at my M90 and have a big ol' grin on my face.

That said, the only other box I really, really, really want in this lifetime is a nice, minty Telefunken Hifi Studio 1 or 1M

Plugged into the wall, the Telefunken rules.

Out at the basketball court with an unlimited supply of batteries, the M90 rules.

Out at the baskeball court with only one set of D-cells, the M70 wins.

There are two things about the M90 that bother me:
1) That power button! (It's too easy to forget you left it on, even worse on the batteries!!)
2) No dial light for the tuner!!!!

Amen Jaetee-I totally agree but I haven't used mt M-90 outside yet-I'm thinking I'll have to bring an extra 10 D's!!
I like that I have the most powerful outdoor boombox!!!
I'm curious as why they put dial lights in the M-70 but not the M-90??
BTW-Has there ever ben a M-90 with a dial light?
I thiught I saw one once??
Have a good one-GB. :-)
Have a great one-GB. :-) :agree:

The conion is more powerful than a standard m90 (not a modded one) but the conion just isn't in the same legue.

Hi Ramon-I agree-22.5 vs. 20 but I'll bet the JVC is underrated!!
There's just to much distortion & not the same bass that you get out of a Conion at loud volumes.
It sure looks cool & is big & it does get loud!!
I like my M-90 better even!!
Have a good one-GB. :-)

I'm not surprised the best of the 3-piece boxes topped the best of the one piece boxes. I would be a little shocked if it were the other way around.

slightly off the topic but, I'm sure most people bought their boomboxes to take outside with them and use them, what good is an M-90 if it eats batteries so badly that you have to carry a second supply with you? When i bought my 880 I wasn't old enough to drive, I rode my 10 speed everywhere carrying the 880 riding no hands most of the time with a basketball on the rear rack, having to carry extra batteries was the last thing I was thinking about. I'll stick to my 880 I don't recall it going thru batteries that quickly, could be wrong as it hasn't run on batteries in over 14 years!

I dont think Either one would disappoint but I think you made the right decision.
You will love the sound and looks and real aluminum knobs and shiny Facia and Dial and VU lights,
It WILL be your new favorite box.

one nice thing I liked about the telefunken being that it was never sold here is that all the controls are labeled in english and German with english on top

All the Labeling on the M1 is in english only,
At least on mine.
Also they had a manufacture plant in Canada
So yes they werent made here but close enough.
Now the HP-800 is a German domestic model and has writing only in German.
