I have the 920, 922 and the Victor M70 if you guys want me to have a battle with them  .

The lasonics just get freakishly loud with the trebel turned all the way up - otherwise they distort at volumes where the M70 is just getting good!

i have done a side-by-side-------

the results are --as you all might agree = 2 GREAT sounding radios -

at low to medium volumes --the 920 plays a MUCH deeper and stronger bass--
but --at LOUD --the m70 power takes over --and sounds much better and cleaner--
on every instrument and for all kindsa music

...exactly as I thought, because my 931 is the same way...thanks for confirming for me Ira, there is a reason the M70 is my favorite box...

See Melly though I love my 931 a hell of alot but the 920 outshines my 931 in sound quality and loudness  as for my M70 I never put the volume on any bbx past like 1:00 because of distortion and thats when sh-t starts to blow :'-( Now though are your M70's fully recapped   None of my boxes are fully recapped and that may make a difference :hmmm: I dunno :-O I would also have to add that it all depends on if your testing with am/fm, or tape deck, or the input which may have different results also ;-)

...none of my M70's have been recapped. I was lucky to find 5 that have no internal issues and are all fully functioning. They all have basically the same sound quality and loudness, except for my "C" version which is extremely loud. We need to find someone with a proper 920 and an M70 to do a proper test and see which is the true midsize boombox king...my money is on the M70...I don't see the Lasonic keeping up with all the M70's strengths...tuner, cassette, sound quality and build quality... :nonono: ...but very interested in finding out nevertheless.

Yeah if I could find a 9696 with the black background (not gray), I'd easily pay more for that than an M70. Why? Because styling is more important to me than how loud a box can go. Call me a GQ fashion queen, but that's just how I roll.

The 9696 is WAY rarer than the M70 too. I could look at my 9696 all day. As time goes on I think the 9696 will become more valuable than the M70 because there is so few of them in comparison.
At any one time there is at least 2 M70s up for grabs on ebay US but I RARELY see 9696s on there.................

SOUND: JVC-RC-M70 over Sharp GF-9696. Highs are very good on both but I'm not impressed with the bass on either model. :-/

LOOKS: Sharp GF-9696 over JVC RC-M70. I've got the Japanese GF-508SB, which is, without question, more dynamic looking than any M70 I've seen!

Never heard the Sharp GF-9595 but that is one incredibly boring-ass generic looking box - even far more so than the M70. |-)

Gonna have to agree -- I like the black speaker section, it looks high class, but everything above that is boring. A box needs at least a few knobs, not just all calculator buttons

Oh and nice shirt

Sold my m70. Still have my Sharps. For my money the GF9000 is a better sounding and interesting boombox. But hey, it's just an opinion. ;-)

Hi guys,I have all of these except the 9494.
I have to admit the M-70 is a better sounding box overall than the
9595,9696 but not to much better than my 9696.
The 9696 is extremely loud and has brilliant highs with that 3 way
speakers!
But the M-70 has better bass and has a little less distortion.
Like Melly I have the JW & C models, yes the C is a little louder!
I have to get my 9595 fixed but I do love that space age digital look!
I also agree the 9696 looks beautiful! Good comparison.
Have a good one-Jeff. :-) :agree:
