I see a few more topics on the M70s/M90s. M70/90 is clearly the benchmark. to compare all other boxes

Someone tell fatdog that we need a top-level section just for the M70. And another one for the M90 .

I've just red this topic.
No word about the gf 9595?
This is one gets IMHO its very important place in the gf9x9x row.
I own them both the rcm70 and the GF 9595.I agree with everyone about the overall quality of the rcm70.
The GF 9595 is under the rcm70,regarding the power and bass quality. The bass is laking of some of the lower frequencies.
But still I consider the GF9595 among the very good sounding boxes.Excelent stereo separation, very good clear highs, very clear overall sound and decent power.
I have owned the GF9494.Good sounding box but I think the GF9595 is better.
I was just about to buy a gf 9696.But I red this topic and changed up my mind.Instead I am now after a TELEFUNKEN HI-FI STUDIO 1M,wich I'm not considering it a tipical boombox, but maybe I'm wrong.Anyway a friend collector has strongly recommended it to me .
So anybody could offer a comparison between the gf9191(I dont know it) and the gf9595?

I've had the 9595 which to me is a very average sounding box but better known for its tuner. The M70 wins this one easily.

I owned a M 70 for a very short period. It was loud . Louder than a GF 9595 anyway.
The M 70 has BTL amp chips . The GF 9595 doesn't . I own a GF 9595 and i absolutely love it. Simply beause it has a digital tuner
Reception circumstances are not ideal where i live so a digital tuner is the way to go for me
As far as i remember, the M 70 i owned had a very harsh sound. Ok OK mine was a piece of crap
I didn't enjoy it for long . I threw it in the bin. I'm very lucky to own 2 M 90 's so i don't want to own a M 70 (again)
I own a GF 9696 and the GF 508 SB . The amp chip in these are bridged, so these pump out a bit more power than the standard configuration with a single HA 1392 like in the GF 9595 and others.
Hope this helps :hmmm:

How does an M70 compare to a Rising 20/20 or a Crown 850?

The Rising is no competition for the M70. The Rising has very nice sound and solid bass but the M70 sounds better and crushes it on power. I have only heard 1 Crown 850 and the M70 will easily crush it on sound and power as well. I would prefer the Rising over the 850.

Hmm, well I don't think the Crown was built with as high quality as JVC, because I have purchased 4 different Crown 850/980's and they have all varied in sound quality due to age. But my best one is VERY nice. Better than any Sharp midsize I've ever heard. So I wouldn't doubt it's up to the challenge posed by the M70. I'll have to bring somewhere to compare with an M70 locally sometime. I would look for an M70 myself, but I've gotta be honest, I'm not a fan of slider controls, especially twin volume sliders.

...I have 5 perfect functioning M70's and I live in the Bay Area, anytime you would like to do a comparison I would be happy to bring a couple by. I would be interested in hearing a nice working midsize Crown. I had a 950 and I have heard an 850...neither one came even close in sound to the M70, but I would like to see how it stacks up to a perfect working example....let me know... :-D

the m70 to me was built to be a midsized box to crush any box in the same size just like its bigger brother the m90 basicly these boxes are high power.and up to now i have not seen any box that will overpower the m70 ,, i have only one box which has some good power the kto which looks like the boltbox and still the m70 managed to whip that box also :w00t:

Yeah we really need to put a Bay Area meet together....there are a few peeps here. I am fairly new here, know of any meeting rooms or community centers we could use/rent?

I think my lasonic trc920 as a midsize box can really give my m70 a run for the money. It has real nice bass and pretty good highs and really can fill a room with sound :-D

i agree with you BADBOYBILL, the 920 blows the m70 away
i would put my philips d8614, against any mid size box for sound quality, it really is awesome sounding ;-)
i have never been a big jvc fan, they look bland :-D

...the 920 blows the M70 away?...I think I would bet on the M70 any day of the week in that battle... :-D ...someone with both radio's should do a side by side comparison...I would be interested to see the results.

I Am Legend
i have done a side-by-side-------

the results are --as you all might agree = 2 GREAT sounding radios -

at low to medium volumes --the 920 plays a MUCH deeper and stronger bass--
but --at LOUD --the m70 power takes over --and sounds much better and cleaner--
on every instrument and for all kindsa music
