Nice work Chris. I like the blue grill. Gives it some character. Plus who wants to have a shelf full of all siver and black boxes? I would add some blue somewhere else to tie it all together...maybe paint the handle and add a blue tinted tuner window, that would be killer.... :-D

I've painted with thin coat of white many speakers and you don't notice any difference. If you want to look at it this way, it will protect them more than hurt them ;-)

Absolutely so. It's also fairly common practice amongst restorers of older equipment to use a PVA-based paint on aged paper speaker cones as this can give new life to brittle, old paper. It also acts as a glue to attach tissue paper stitches where required on damaged cones. :-)

You guys got some great idea's. This radio isn't done, it's just getting started!

After 20 plus years in storage, it's gonna get some use and it's going to look good doing it. I'm going to look at the options you guys are talking about and post what happens....

Looks great Chris!! I like how you've really cleaned it up and I kind of agree with Melly, give it some more blue accents and it will be killer!!:)
How does these compare in sound to the Aiwa Stereo660? Is this the 'old' 660?:)
Really have heard good things about these!:)

Sorry man, that was so long ago. I never remember to keep track of the belt sizes.

Yeah,I figured so.
Do you by chance recall how you removed the Sanyo logo holding the grill in?
I got her all clean and loud, but that grill is so big that if that looks new,the whole thing will look great.
Thanks again
