Replacing midwoofers in my newly acquired GF-767

So just as an update. The new speakers do fit and look pretty nice, but I noticed that the temporary car speakers I was using sound a lot better on the treble side of things. Like I think they were making up for the lack of real tweeters, so I wonder if I just need to upgrade the tweeters before I can use these or something. Idk, but I think I'll stick with the car speakers for now.

So, here's what the Ford speakers look like when installed. I know it looks ghetto, (ha, pun), but they sound really good in here and I think I'll keep them for the time being. I think maybe if I can get a pair of real tweeters, I'd maybe be able to use these new speakers. Because they're really missing the treble I'm looking for is all. These jerryrigged Ford speakers made me spoiled.

With a rating of only 5 watts, (nominal? peak?), I doubt those speakers will provide the bass you're wanting. Especially given their very low price. You might want to browse Parts Express, they are one of the biggest sources of speakers. You can search by size and ohms rating. A few people here have also had luck using Alpine speakers, shown here --

I replaced speakers on two 767s and a 777, and this upgrade was my starting point for those. Threads for all three should be somewhere buried on the site. replaceme speakers of the proper size, fit, watt, and ohm rating are out there but I would suggest doing your due diligence in speaker catalogs to find them. Remember, 777s and 767s are NOT known for their bass, it was more of a mid bass sound, not the deep bass of other boxes.

I would like to mention that this is one of the better looking (cosmetically) 767s that I have ever seen, at least from these pics. They tend to be not built as robustly as a 777, at least from the half dozen I have seen.

It is in quite nice condition honestly. I was very much blown away when I saw it on the table at the record store. It was sitting there, staring at me with big beaty eyes. I had to have it lmao.

Oh for sure, it's already considered my baby, I will cherish it my entire life, and I'm definitely going to find every excuse I can to use it. It has pretty much taken on the role for playing music in the living room all the time now.
