By now most of you have probably read about the Bon Sonic Bolt box I bought off of eBay a few weeks ago. It arrived in a box barely bigger than the boomer itself with out so much as a piece of paper protecting it except on the top. Here's the loons list of emails, I only replied the first couple of times then never responded again but her crazy threatening emails kept coming.
My emails are in blue, sellers emails are in green.
ENJOY!

Natasha,
The Boom Box arrived several days ago but I'm saddened to have to report it did not arrive well. It was not double boxed which was indicated it would be in the auction, there wasn't any bubble wrap or padding material around the Boom Box either.
Issues:
-The grill over the right speaker has been pushed in against the chrome ligntning bolt, don't know if there is damage to the lightning bolt.
- The Chrome rail under the cassette keys is pushed in, can be pulled out but it's floppy now.
- There are two small cracks on top just outside of where the handle mounts.
- Just to the back of the jack panel the case is held out by a small piece of broken plastic wedged in between.
- One foot is partially broken off on the bottom.
- The tuner dial won't move.
That's only what I've found wrong in the short time I've spent with it, I certainly hope that's it but the small pieces clanking inside could indicate more problems. Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi, I am sooo sorry, that I can't believe, wow, how insane
OK, well this is insured fully, and you have to save everything, and file a claim immediately with UPS.
The thing is, that this is METAL. and solid and strong. and it fit exactly in that box. When someone drops, or crushes a box like this, bubble pack does not help at all because if it either fell off a truck or was just crushed, those things don't save the item.
This box was sooo thick and strong, and I did have it in there so tightly, it would have taken massive weight, or falling off a truck to have caused that kind of damage.
So, you have to save the box, and the item, and show all of the damage and file a claim with UPS. And it's covered for the entire amount with UPS. THey can try to allege that this packing, but it was not. It was from someone mishandling the item based on your description. I would take pictures, and save the box, and immediately file a claim, because you only have a certain time frame to report a claim.
My photos of the the original item are in the listing, and you can compare them to how it arrived.
ANd you need to do this yesterday in order to have your claim be accepted. There is not time to wait.
Keep me posted. Natasha

Natasha,
Yes it's unfortunate since these old Boom Boxes are irreplaceable. The fact is these are almost all plastic, not metal, and as such are very delicate. If they are not cushioned from the box any impact to the box is transfered to the Boom Box. A Boom Box without adequate cushioning is almost always damaged in shipment. I have bought and sold over 100 of these Boom Boxes as well as having numerous collector friends who have extensive experience as well and one fact we learned is boom boxes not well protected almost always get broken.
UPS will reject any claim filed on this solely on the fact that the Boom Box had no padding. Minimum padding by UPS standards is 2 inches all the way around. Here is a link to the UPS sight for "How To Prepare for Shipping".

The box is salvageable and a shame to let go however it's not worth nearly what I paid so I'm going to have to request a refund.

When I got your first message, I had a little alert go off in my head, a couple of things did not make sense. I always try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt because my head does not automatically go to fraud alert, I am just a seller. BUt I have been on here a long time, and had it occur on occassion, and that's what it feels like here, and since I have lawyers in the family, I have asked them to take a look at all of this.
SOme people just learn how to play the system.
First, I was surprised by this selling only a few hours after it was listed, and for this type of item, someone would have to be on the watch for it. Second, when you said you got it a "few days ago", second thing that alerted me. Anyone who does buy on Ebay and deal with shipping issues, knows that you have to open and report damages right away. Then, if you have filed claims before, and they have given you a hard time, you certainly know how frustrating it is, but in the end, they do have to pay, it's just alot of work.
And you failed to mention all of the filler that was inside the box, and the free tshirt, which was rolled up on the top, and offered far more than 2 inches of protection as well. And since I packed it, and ship all of the time, I do know exactly what I am doing. This was packed just fine, and again, bubble pack like you mentioned does not protect this type of item, but foam and other fillers do.
Next, the things "rolling around in the box" were candy, smarties, the trademark of my family who puts these in everything we ship.
Next, the turner part for the radio. Again this works perfectly, the only way to break those is by tuning the radio beyond the stations, and keep rotating it, and it would break. It would not get damaged during shipping.
My feeling is that you switched radios for one that you already had, especially because if it was "dropped", more than one foot would likely have fallen off.
_____________________________________________________________________________-
And that brings us to this next email, in which you want a "refund" for an item you are claiming was damaged during shipping, not sold as a damaged item. And you are clearly aware of how nice the condition of this is, because you said it even after all that you have mentioned.
And so filing a claim is also fraud, because when items are damaged and insured, they are protected, no matter how hard they fight, and they do have to pay out claims, If I was the recepient of this, and it arrived damaged, I would be able to collect from the shipper, because they have to. But you have the strong, thick, stapled box that I shipped it in, and my guess, that took the trip without a mark on it, and you have switched radios for another one in your collection.
Some people are so good at fraud, they do not ever think they will get caught. But I am here to tell you they do, ANd anyone's IQ is higher than the criminal mind they have to think these things up, I am telling you it will not be worth it for you. Ebay may indeed agree with you, but we will have to duke it out in that process, and the thing is, that it alerts them to you for an item of this size to pay out, if they do, they won't be doing it twice.
As for what I do personally because this was a large sale, is go criminally with internet fraud, internet police, etc. The lawyers do all of that, I will include you in the first email that I send to one of the lawyers at my family's firm, and you can make your decision on what to do. I never can figure out why people get high trying to abuse an entity such as Ebay, or the internet, but they do it all of the time.
And from here, if you choose to file a dispute, you may, I will not be contacting you again, the attorney's will, and Ebay only.
I hope you enjoy your Boston shirt.
Also, we are listing you on an blocked buyer list that prevents you from bidding at multiple stores on here.

Hi Attorney Burke
I sold this radio that was from the 80's as I was explaining on the phone, and was just stunned to see the recepient trying to pull a fraud scam.
I know I explained a bunch on the phone, and have attached copies of his messages for you, so, you can let me know what you come up with.
Also, I gave your secretary his address, and whatever I could find in his ebay account, and you can do a search and his local delivery carriers like we did on that case a year ago.
So sad that this comes up, but I really thought that I would see this beloved item to a great person, I am always so upset when people can be this crazy and think that in today's world they won't get caught.

Also, just so you know. I have been sick with pneumonia for a month in bed,
unable to even work. Others have been selling and shipping for me.
Once I found out that this sold, I was so concerned about it, I got up and
out of bed, and packed it myself, just to assure it was done right.
And as I said in my other emails, you may proceed as you wish.
Ebay has insurance for these kinds of things, and they do pay out of fraud
claims on a one per person kind of basis, because they are not stupid either.
Shopping on Ebay and the internet is a privelege, not anyone's right or entitlement.
And when people pull scams, they rarely care who they hurt and effect.
But I am a divorced mom, sick, and needed this money for me and my daughters,
and the sad part is, that it was very hard to part with this item, but we
needed the money to live. I hope someday, people try to think how much they
hurt others when they are seeking "entitlements" for themselves, or making
innocent people pay for mistakes that others made to them.

YOU SICK FRAUD MAN, MAKE SURE YOU READ THIS EMAIL AND SPEAK ENGLISH. EBAY WAS NOT AWARE THAT YOU REFUSED THE UPS CALL TAG PICK UP 3 TIMES AND YOU CALLED THEM BEFORE I GOT THE UPS INFORMATION CONFIRMING THAT YOU WOULD NOT PICK THIS UP. IF YOU ARE STILL STUPID ENOUGH TO SHIP THE SWITCHED RADIO BACK TO ME, IT WILL BE REFUSED AND I WILL SEND IT RIGHT BACK TO YOU, AND YOU WILL GET IT BACK AS REFUSED.
GOD HELP YOU, YOU SICK MAN
AS I TRIED TO TELL YOU ALREADY, WE HAVE LAWYERS IN THE FAMILY.
I AM FILING INTERNET FRAUD CHARGES AGAINST YOU, AND CALLING THE POLICE WHERE
YOU LIVE.

I assumed after you have refused to give the package to UPS, it was you that
tried this scam from here.
Once I got on the phone with Ebay, they told me it was them that decided
to close out the claim because although they told me to call and ask for
UPS to pick it up, I was waiting until today to see if you gave it to them
for the 3rd try that they are making to call back, as again I am sick it
hurts to talk.
So they did not know I had contacted UPS and was waiting for the final pickup
call today.
Since you did not give it to them, or make plans to surrender the box, I
told UPS that it was your fraud attempts, and they know, as so does Ebay.
My advice to you, is that you are dabbling in expensive items, not petty
fraud like $5.00 scams. They are very easy to read through and figure out,
because criminals are usually not that smart, just lucky for a while that
they find people that don't think with a criminal mind.
If you want any future and peace in your life outside of a prison cell, if
I were you, I would either find a cheaper hobby, easier to scam people, or
learn to buy better so that you don't have damaged items to pass off for
good ones.
Lord help you

Ebay, item arrived today in 2 boxes, the original one I sent it in, without any damage on it, and a second one just a little larger from another of his "radio purchases" and not even the amount of "filler" he was claiming was necessary. What a joke. I know you pay out these false claims on a one time basis, but you should not have to. Our family is taking it from here, and we have our own souces for fraud.
_________________________________________________________________________
All I can tell you is that what goes around comes around, and it's better
to be honest and sincere than to think you are fooling anyone, when you are
not.
This was not the right way to be, and our family proceeds after this and
we will take action.
My emails are in blue, sellers emails are in green.
