Its all a matter of opinion, very much like what type of boxes you prefer the look of.

To me, I rather like it and always remember that wherever you go, on whichever site, job, hobby, walk of life, there is always at least one douchbag we have to put up with.
Unfortunately s2g has 2 of them but I still like the place and for someone technically savvy I have no issues using and navigating the site so its all good to me.

i kinda get the impression that theres some bad blood between the sites or between some members or somethin? anything i should know about?

The new format over there scares me, but I suppose eventually I'll learn how to use it. Nothing wrong with a little change now and then!

some of us left that site b/c of you know who, too many confrontations, but now he is no longer around, and for me the new site is great, just ready to get used to it, find new thing and all, i dont post here much anymore , i just come in for a few minutes and i spend my whole time ready trying to catch up, but believe me is hard, so i try to post over there more often, i dont hate anyone here or there, to me i was born there, and desided to stay there, i was very happy when this site started everyone has treated me good,

it kind of make me sad to read all the bad comments about the other site, over there no one talks bad about this site,
so keep that in mind and just like Ira, and fatdog and others that i see there visiting , you guys are always welcome .

i think you are far wrong, hugo --
there are VERY few posts here that ever diss s2g --

but --i agree that every member here is always welcome over there :-) :
-------------------------

for me --i do try to make some posts there -
and want to help support the site --

and although i think the new s2g changes were not at all
necessary --
i give credit to paul and anybody over there that tried to
make it better -
surely - it was a huge effort -
but i much prefer the original set-up

for some of us --
its no longer big fun there -
while we have tons of fun right here

Sorry guys but Patron is right. There's an underlying tone of bigotry towards S2Go present on this site which in my view is childish and totally unwarranted & very mush the reason why I don't post here more than I do.

Read this entire thread again & you'll see what I mean. Some of you are still keen to throw stones with your "I'm staying right here" approach, even folks who weren't even involved in the 'incident' which provoked the initial 'mutiny' in the first place, though it's been so long now I'm surprised if anyone remembers.

Is there really so many people into this hobby that we can afford to create opposition factions like this? Come on, come over to Stereo2Go, it's the same people, the same topic, OK, we're trying out a new format which isn't everyone's cup of tea but it will grow on you like BBX did when you first found it. We even have Rimmer there to keep you amused :-)

We are all privileged to have this mutual interest in boomboxes, if we absolutely must have two forum sites then let's support each one in the same way, I know a lot of you do but it's something we should all do, even me I guess. Cut and paste the same post on each maybe.

Well, I'm very much a neutral guy and try to post over there once in awhile but lemme just say that the animosity Patron and AO alludes to is not restricted to any one site. Both sites have exhibited these exact same sentiments from time to time so no one is guilt free here. Mostly, I just try to stay above the fray and the purpose of my thread here was simply to announce the seemingly very substantial changes at the old site (in case no one noticed) and how it was gonna take a lot of getting used to.

Yes, some folks have stated that they are happy here but the truth is that you can please some of the people all the time, or all the people some of the time, but you simply can't please all of the people all of the time. As individuals, it's human nature to have different likes/dislikes. And some folks like it here, some people prefer it there, nothing wrong with that. And yes, some folks might be vocal about their preference but I don't think any offense should be drawn from it either way. How someone saying that they like it here, could then be construed to be throwing stones is just plain silly and reading too much into an innocent comment. Perhaps I am naive and missing all the hidden meanings in these statements but I simply don't see it nor can I make that relationship. I happen to like Chevy's (or did before the Govt took it over). Doesn't mean I won't drive a Ford. All I can say is drop in here once in a while if you feel like it and many of us also drops over there for a comment or two also, from time to time.

'nuff said.

What he said. All one has to do is search for threads here regarding S2G and read.

The thing that really bothers me, at least right now, is the lack of the ability to search the S2G forum. :-/ Other than that, I applaud Paul's decision to revamp the site. I just wonder what Jens thinks about Rimmer being back.

We have a saying in Venezuela that goes something like:

"Uno no está donde uno quiere, sino donde a uno lo quieren"
"One is not where one wants to be, but where one's wanted"

I was a member first at S2G, didn't last long; reading the threads there, it didn't take me long to feel that it wasn't the place for me. Actually, it only took me a couple of days of reading (actually too long). I thought, if I wanted bickoring I'd ask my mom to open her mouth for a couple of days. So, if it's changed now from those days, and there's no more bickoring that's great and maybe I'll post something and see what the reactions are...

Oh, and I don't know about any incident, and nobody here has ever "enlightened" me about it. In fact, I don't really care to know either. I'm a "peace & love" kinda guy.

Peace!

I noticed that Paul was on the SocialStrata support site asking about larger avatars and custom smileys - both of which are a no-go with the new board. I was somewhat shocked to discover that the new S2G board costs at least $99 per month. :-O :-O :-O :-O :-O That just blows my mind. :dunce:

The site does look a whole lot more similar to a social networking site (ala facebook) than a forum. I believe it's better suited to greater traffic than what I normally observe there.

For me Every cloud has a silver lining. The change makes me look for new forums, so I've registered here yesterday. I only have good words about people in S2G, but the new site is a great mistake IMHO, all but standard or intuitive, no way to do anything easily, tiny avatars and nicknames, almost 1/3 of the display useless ... now I think is not a question of get used, but simply a bad design ... :'-(
