This is looking great Joe. Hats off to you sir. After seeing thus progress I think I'd be happy enough to find an M90 in this condition. Fantastic work my friend.

I love the plug in idea for the BT module. I suppose you could use that for more than just the module too. Maybe cell phone charger or something?

Holy **** it works!

I'm not totally done wiring but I assembled enough to test and I'm so happy it's saved!!!!!

I peeled that crappy gorilla glue foam off the screw posts. I got some 2 part quick epoxy to smear on the seam where the new posts meet the case. Drilled holes for new screws and threaded them.

Deck clicks but is not working.

Hopefully I can find a few knobs to finish off the front.

Thanks Bill.

I still have some gray touchup I want to do to the lower middle section where the scratches are. Put black back on the JVC logo. Use some spare chunks of mirror milar that Caution sent me to put at the bottom of the tuner window. Have to trim down a glob of hot glue by the tuner LEDs that the tuner needle hits in one spot. Find some more rear case screws and knobs. Run the power wires for the LEDs and aux 12v jack. Scrub a few more crusty spots off the rear case.........

Maybe a good few hours of tinkering with it to get it where I want.

So exciting.

Leds wired in with the toggle switch. I have to abandon the aux 12v jack for now. Tons of feedback through the speakers with the BT module plugged in :-/. I trimmed the glob of hot glue so the tuner needle doesn't get hung up anymore.

Testing my home made screw posts and all is holding well!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.

Ps, anyone with a M90LB that needs a phono attenuator, this one fits in the battery compartment so you can always keep it with your radio!

Thank you. This project was opened up so long that again I was impatient to spend more time on the body work. The repair of the case is OK, if the rest of the case was mint then I would have spent way more time on making it more seamless.

It feels good to know where it was and where it is now. Worlds better.

I hear ya guys. This is a strange deal because it was intended to be a parts box. Even thought about selling some parts off but keep the tuner in tact for a beach blaster for Ira. There were just enough pieces and just enough function still working that I couldn't bring myself to blow it apart. Really for what, what determines a 'parts box'? Because the case had a chunk missing? Because it didn't have antennas? Because it is missing knobs? Because the tuner top trim was missing? The total of all the things wrong or missing? Resale value VS repair costs/time?

I love the support and the encouragement from all of you. I love the challenge! The before and after! There are days I flip through these old threads and think to myself, 'why the hell did I even spend the time on that!'. Now it is a labor of love and a custom blaster with mega repairs done that I will have a hard time getting rid of ;-).

I seriously love this ****. A true boombox enthusiast through and through. To sacrifice some time with my family/friends to fix an old radio, I have to be nuts!

Cheers to you guys.

;-)

Believe it or not, the cassette started to play/ff/rw but the heads aren't attached to the deck because the previous owner took them off. I left them lay in the radio, but now I will go back in and try to mount them to see if I get sound from the tape.
