Looks great and I hear you, it's hard to let them go. I still regret letting mine go but have hope to one day find a perfect crack smoking box like yours.
I love these stories, reminds me of the few times I've gone after items only to find I'm entering the darkest parts of town and wondering if I'm being set up for a mugging, car jacking or ?.

i am just guess but i kind of think this unit must have been way way way up there in terms of numbers sold.
they are really nice looking blasters.
you know even tho this unit looks miles better and sounds much better than the latest incarnation of the lasonic boombox you have to applaud this company for offering affordable loud portable stereos for the regular joes for several decades now.
i mean in many ways lasonic has been much more loyal to the boomboxers than any other company.
melly you should send some pics to the lasonic facebook page. i am sure they would be interested to see some shots of one of there old products in basically brand new condition.
Hey I have a lasonic TRC931 that I got new in '88' and a TRC975 I got new in '93' and love them both I would not give them up for nothing Like Bill said they are the only company around trying to keep bbx's alive And even though JVC, Sharp and Panny all made fantastic boxes, there not anymore. Even the kaboom is not an original bbx from the 70/80s. So I say for every person who slashes Lasonic they should do a little studying into the life span of the boxes and how they brought it to our present day with the I931bill said:in some ways the trc-931 is the boombox for the masses. why would i say that ,well for the price these sold for new it was a far far cry from the stratosphere kissing prices a lot of the earlier boxes went for.

The J-1 Super Jumbo comes close... somewhat... The bass doesn't hit as hard tho, unfortunately.

Yeah, I remember seeing 'em being sold at Woolworth's at the end of the 80's for around $150, stacked up on the floor and fresh in the box.

Truthfully I was feeling kind of ill at the fact you scored such a mint box on craigslist of all places
and was going to sell it.
If that were mine you would have to pry it from my dead lifeless hands to get it from me . :grim:
