When I saw the for sale add on this radio I could tell by the pics that it was in really good condition. I immediately sent him an email with my phone number attached. To my surprise he called me and said I could pick it up immediately if I wanted. needless to say I rushed over to his place. When I got to his neighborhood it was in a VERY rundown part of San Francisco. There were crackheads firing up right on the sidewalk in front of his building! We went up to his place and as soon as I saw the box I couldn't give him the money fast enough! It was in perfect condition.... :w00t: ...all the chrome knobs and speaker covers are perfect, all knobs and switches move smooth and firm, the radio dial has a light for mono (yellow) and stereo (red), all meter lights work, both cassette decks work and play at the correct speed, all the labels and glass still have the original film covering them. This is the best condition radio I have ever found. It literally looks like it was just taken out of the box.

The young man selling it told me it had been stored inside of a box in the attic of his building and he found it by accident. I played with it for about 30 minutes and this thing cranks!! The bass is very deep and powerful and when adjusting the 5 band eq properly has very nice sound. I won't mention how much I paid for this gem, but it was a very, very, very good deal.... :-D ...here are some pics...

Some indoor pics...by the way the bubbles you see on the tuner glass are from the protective film, it is perfect underneath... :-D

...thanks Floyd, it really is the closest thing I have seen to perfect condition. I was VERY lucky to find this one. I think this radio should go to someone who truly loves Lasonics...I will be looking to trade or sell this gem.

:-) :-D :-D

I will oficially list it for sale tomorrow...right now my daughter is trying to talk me into letting her keep it... :-D ...but it is too nice for her to keep so it must go. Only reason I am selling it is I have my eye on a very high priced grail and I need the funds... :-D

WOW I would find it pretty hard to part with that gem.
All its missing is the box!!!
How did you find out about it???
I would venture to say you will probably get big bucks out of that box for sure.
Good luck

I was searching Craigslist and the ad literally popped on the screen seconds after I began my search. I was the first one to contact the seller and I was able to come right away. I just opened it up and this is the first time I opened a box and it has no dust inside...not one spec. The way these pics look is the way I picked it up. I haven't even cleaned it yet. This is truly a rare find. If I weren't chasing another grail I would not consider selling.

Bobby I was just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time...I am trying to figure out how they kept it this way. It looks brand new on the inside. This guy lived in a slum neighborhood and finds a radio like this in his attic hidden inside a sealed box...go figure.

i remember when you could walk into a department store and buy these all day long ,damn those were the days
you got to admit the trc 931 is a great looking box and it sounds as good as it looks ,it has the perfect look for the big black ghetto blaster i mean if any box is an 80's icon the trc 931 ranks right at the top of the list with the conion c100 and the m90.

I was actually up all night listening to it. When you set the eq up properly it is actually a very nice sounding unit. It handles heavy bass better than all my one-piece radios. I was actually going to trade/sell this one but after listening to it all night it grew on me and I have decided to keep it. This is truly a rare find in this condition. I was searching for defects of any kind and couldn't find one. This is the first "10" boombox I have ever found. It literally looks like it was never used. When I opened her up to check it out internally the tape deck belts looked brand new. I really am shocked and amazed at the condition of this box and lucky to be the owner. I thank everyone for the wonderful comments. You fellas are the reason this is such a wonderful site to be a part of.
