Regarding the "green" spots on the buttons and such...

See if you can carefully pop them off. It might be best to partially disassemble the boombox to get to everything. Then try cleaning them using a baking soda paste and toothbrush. Just mix enough water with baking soda to make a paste. Pick some up with the toothbrush and then scrub the knobs and buttons. They should clean up nicely and of course, rinse thoroughly afterward as the baking soda will dry and leave a thin, powdery layer. The baking soda paste worked wonders on the buttons for my GF-303SG.

True to form, Fred Sanford goes dumpster diving and pulls out a gold plated M71. You can't make this stuff up. WoW.

Be careful with the polish. On the knobs and button, and acrylic -- fine. But on the paint, too much scrubbing could strip the paint off. It's not very thick on the JVC's.

Congratulations! Awesome find!

This beats the luck of the previous one I saw of these that went for $20 on yahoo a while back.

Rock On.

Great find.

The fact that you find a working boombox in the garbage is already pretty cool....the fact that you found an M71 (which I had not known about prior to this thread) is LEGENDARY! What a fantastic opportunity to fix that thing up and rock the suburbs.

The "Wheely" , my lady friend ;-) , is any one of these boxes:

dynasty-ht959 IBBN 7-15211
audioton-tbs9300 IBBN 7-15466
elta-6930 IBBN 7-00264
esc-jc2000 IBBN 7-02483
helix-wheely5000 IBBN 7-08176
international-ms959 IBBN 7-03883
matsuki-ms959 IBBN 7-07769
orbex-ms959 IBBN 7-15405
technidyne-td10000 IBBN 7-04277

I have the Dynasty HT-959 "Wheely" - they call it a wheely because it has 2 ballbearing wheel tracks that pop out of the bottom of the boombox so you can ROLL it around instead of carrying it  :w00t: . They are useless, but it's the only box with them.

The Wheely's/aka's are known as the BIGGEST 1 piece production boomboxes. 10" woofers, dual cassette, storage for 10 cassette tapes, 10 D-size batteries, dual antenna, dual LED meters.

I Am Legend
i have never seen//heard any wheely --
thanks for your explanation, joe-

before that --it was confusing with all those AKAs

do each of those on your list have wheels ?

You're welcome Ira.

Yes, all of those have the ballbearing wheels.

Still, any wheely does not out perform a M70/71 - it only trumps the JVC in size :-/ .

Comparison shot. The wheely, second up from the bottom center - and the Victor M70, top left.

Find of the year, no doubt. ;-)

Here (Brazil) it´s really hard to find a simply M70... ...what about M71... :-/

Keep looking (in here).

Cheers (and congratulations)! :w00t:
