My friend Norm motivated me to customize my favorite box, the M70. When I looked at the photo-shopped pics of different colored M70's I knew white was the color I wanted. Originally I was only going to paint the front. I then decided ti customize the whole thing. I stripped it down and painted the entire front cover and top plate in 3 coats of gloss white. Then I painted 1 coat of clear pearl and 2 coats of clear gloss. I painted the back cover in 3 coats of silver metallic and 2 coats of clear gloss and speaker grills in 2 coats of high gloss black. The handle has 4 coats of gloss white and 3 coats of clear gloss. I painted the top plate because I am having clear vinyls made for the controls in JVC blue writing. I must tell you a LOT of work went into getting this perfect. I sanded every knick, scratch, and gouge until the outer case was PERFECT. There is not a defect to be found. I hope it doesn't turn into a shelf queen...nahhhh... Enjoy the pics....

:w00t: I DID create a monster !

Great looking box Melvin. Now I hope you can appreciate how much work these things can take. I wish you'd given me an opportunity to swap the top panels with you first before painting but it's all good....

Enjoy it. I know I enjoy mine... :-D

I don't know, Melvin. Jet gloss black. As a car enthusiast, you KNOW how hard it is to get a black paint job. It need to be perfect since it shows every defect. But then again... black with white speakers..... that's one worth seeing!

That's dope! Looks better in white than it ever did in silver, if you ask me - especially with the white/blue woofers!

i am so glad that melly and norm had made the time -and had the talent and the guts to
make these thrilling one-off boxes --

the reason that many of us like the m71 version so much --
is because its a change from the semi-boring and extreme common grey m70

imho -- the m70 is too good to be boring looking --
so the white and the maroon jobs --
are , actually --- important

:agree: 100%
... Too good to be boring and common. We need to make them special and stand out.

That looks great Melly! :w00t:
I like the red tipped Radio shack antennas too. The red kinda pops against the white M70.
Very cool. :surf:

That looks super impressive Melly, really something special.
The clean lines of the M70's design lend themselves well to a neutral colour, but the
absoloute perfection of the white makes that box POP!

Lovely work, thanks for sharing!

Rock On.

this boombox looks like it was meant to be .
good eye and design sense man. it looks really fantastic.
i think you choice of color is smart too. i mean if you do nick it or scratch it touching it up will be easy enough.
theres really nothing i would change about how you have done this boombox. it looks really really good.
