Not the minority I am sure. I think I am just over reacting due to the old cars i have worked on.
I have seen "improvements" such as:
-flipping the back leaf springs over so it rides like a rodrod.
-cutting holes in the dash to install a cool 8 track player.
-ripping up an expensive interior to install a cheap china made sunroof, which later fell down on the occupant.

Back to topic, it is important that we keep the boombox hobby alive and interesting. and your m90 definately does that. :)
I'm with ya there. Still remember my first VW bug a 1966 that I bought back in highschool late '80's.... Took it down to the stereo king to have a radio installed. Well, they dremelled out the dash to install it (the stock grundig was much smaller). When I looked at what they had done I almost started to cry. Yea it was a clean install and I'm not sure what I was thinking just didn't realize it needed to be cut in I guess.

Ok, finally finished the tweeters. I decided to use a red inset for the trims.

Thanx VM. The other guys are just trippin' anyway 'cause they can't have 1 & it makes their M90's boring to look at & they know it too.

Besides, whether you agree or not with what I've done, you can't deny it takes imagination, determination & a bit of artistic flair to pull this off the way I did & I could care less if traditional collectors would appreciate it. I can park that box anywhere & have an instant DISCO dance party.

Agreed!
just placement and space and angle of internal luminace is an aquired talent thru experience..
I am late to the party and have some ideas for future endeavors I like to share with you.. ;)

Check out the sound from this monster....

I sealed the back with 75 mil FAT MAT Rattle TRAP damping material & used acoustic fill to slow the air around the cassette. The Cassette door rattles on some cavernous tracks but, all in all, a very rounded 'HI-FI' sound with bass that carries farther than the average M90.

Here's a couple of photos to show the mods needed to stuff these cans into the Mothership-90...

Below is the transformer but shifted about 1" further towards the bottom of the cabinet. As you can see, it fits like a glove & the bracket is very robust so the transformer will not shift in any way whatsoever.

The following is the 8" woofers that pound out the 808's like no one else's business...

Crikey....its should have a warning sticker on the front alerting the user to the high possibility of blindness and deafness being caused by this brute! Top work sir, I'd love to see this in person to get the full effect.

Thanx Northerner. Still waiting with great anticipation for your next MOD. it'll be hard to sell the Mothership-90 to VintageMan but he's been waiting all summer for delivery in Sept. so I can't welsh on a deal but man he's getting a super bargain for sure & 1 of the nicest, if not THE nicest M90 ever..even the tape deck works perfectly...

Cheers,
Cpl
