That would be a good idea. I applied a couple of them to mine, which had been touched up with silver paint, and I could see the contour of that paint in the reflection.

These beater M90 rings I have might just be too far gone beat to put that much time and effort into. Oh well. They look good!

I was fixin' to take my little handheld rubber sander to my trims eventually, I figure, it's just a bit wider than the trims and if you put some fine grit sandpaper in that, and motioned in a similar arc back and forth, you'd get it right I bet.

Any imperfections under the film will be telegraphed to the surface of the film unless it is a thick film with a thicker adhesive layer.
Topographical heterogeneities are transmitted through a thin film.

If anyone is interested in a strip for the chrome along the bottom of the dial window, send me an IM.

I picked up a roll of a brushed metal pattern over the weekend, and cut some M90 trims from it. They use the thinner material, but it doesn't seem to matter as much since it's not a mirror surface showing every imperfection. I thought I'd offer this to anyone that wasn't too keen on the chrome, and wanted something more like the original JVC paint.

Now that I could use on my newest M90 project because the trims are pretty rough around the tweeters.

Oh that material looks nice Eric, I think that looks more OG, although the shiny blinged out version makes my M90 pop, hmmm :hmmm:

Yeah, that's the thing! Plus it's a thinner material so anything wrong with the surface shows through easier. I tossed a pair on real quick as a test, knowing there are surface imperfections.

Is this the strip for at the bottom of the tuner window?

Here is a picture of my mint M90 tweeter trim. Your new material really hits it on the head!
