For me it's time to start saving for my property tax anyway. Funny thing is - home values drop across the country, by my property tax went up - by M90 or so

They are pretty slick about it in Dallas. Not only do they reassess home values every year, but they also raise the tax itself more often than they should. For example, a couple of year ago they lowered the property tax by 30% as in Texas home property taxes are the highest in the nation - or almost so.
Well, they lowered the property tax, but increased the appraised home values, and to compensate for lower property tax - they hiked the alcohol and cigarette taxes. And guess what happened next year. Property tax went back up, appraisals went up - and the alcohol and cigarette taxes didn't go down. If it's not a highway robbery - then I don't know what
