Well, now that I've got my M70 apart for cleaning, rebelting, slider repair and maybe recapping (still thinking about it), I've decided to give it a face lift. We all know what an M70 looks like so no photos of it for now. If and when the project comes to fruition, I will post the final result as well as some images of the work.

Right now, I'd like to ask what you all think would be a good color choice to repaint the body. No no, the current paint condition is fine, in fact, darn good. However, I've been wanting something with more pizazz and inspired by Monolithics beautiful Perdisco, I've decided to give this guy a more colorful existence. We all know that the M70 is the top medium box, if not one of the top performers in it's class. This new dress will give it the crown and jewells worthy of a king!

If you can't decide, I've made it easier -- you can choose up to 2 colors!

I voted for the copper. I think that color would go well with the blue woofers and chrome accents.

I was thinking along the same lines although it's so hard to picture what the final result would look like. I only have 1 shot at this because the thin raised lettering on plastics is very easy to lose detail when the paint gets too thick.

norm --if you are sure that it has to be a one-shot deal --
than make a few quick cardboard replicas - just for the front view
-paint them first :-)
yes - that sounds inaccurate --but will save the BIG mistake

i voted for the maroon...

that mint green could be the best -
except , lately - all the chinese power tools come in that color :-D :-D

the copper might look like you tried to fake an m71  :nonono:

you fotoshop guy you :w00t: :-D

ok -- the copper is like puke-
the blue and the greys are too boring --ie not worth doing :-/

the red should be many shades darker --like MAROON !!
then it might look great-

and the green job MIGHT have looked right - :hmmm:

except -- norm is talking METALLIC --
maybe your program cant do metallics ???

:w00t: WOW :w00t:

THAT IS WAY COOL BOBBY! Thanks!

I didn't think the maroon and copper would look that nice but I think everyone's guess was right on! The mint green looks like a great color on the can but is too similar to the current silver. That copper looks a little darker than what the can's cover looks like. Maybe it'll look differently when applied.

Ira, I thought that the M71 was more like a very faint champagne/gold color? I saw Sin's M71 and it didn't look all that different from a normal M70. I doubt that the copper would look anything like the M71.

Bobby -- can you redo the copper one but leave the AMSS trim and logo trim (bottom MMS) and top trim (control panel) the original silver? Maybe even lighten it a bit? That's about what I had in mind.

Those colors look awesome! If you want it to pop and be loud looking definetly the dark cranberry or the copper. If you want cool and clean go with the gunmetal. The blue and green just don't do it for me.

What about a safety yellow with gunmetal?

Ill take one in each color!!!!!
What are you going to do about the lettering on the top when you paint it????

That top panel is detachable and I'm planning on leaving that silver -- sort of a 2-tone look.

I think it looks really good in M90 gray.....

But I think something completely different would be great too! (I might stay away from the metallics though.... it might look a little cheesy and in my experience metallics tend to go on a little too thick)

gotcha!!

Well so far all the colors seem to go with the original silver.
Now we will have to see it with the other panels silver as well.
I think the green would clash less than the other colors.

All my color choices were metallic I believe, but not the starburst, aluminum specked/flaked variety. Look at the cans and you'll see what I'm talking about. I don't think the colors chosen will look too cheesy. The grey looks good but I've already got the M90, Sanyo M9994 and others with the grey. I want this one to be different and a bit flashy.

this is a cool//fun thread --
lots of opinions --

its great idea to leave the top panel alone-
and not have to mess with the lettering

On the other hand, nobody is deterred from buying up those hieroglyphic'd Japanese boxes where you have to guess what controls do what.
