Whoa yeah, I see it now. The multi colored headphone jacks VS the older boxes have the black jacks :w00t: .

I believe they would have made that boombox in 2000. It might have been built with the old stock they had laying around (and they still have some new parts even today).

NEW - OLDSTOCK classic

Dudes - not only are the jacks a different color but look at the LASONiC text! Old school text is block letters with NO LEAN - the newer box LASONiC text is itallisized! :w00t: These are genuine different "editions" of the 975

i like joes explanation.
the box is too clean to have been tampered with....as in putting a fake date code sticker on it....if youre gonna fake it..make it the first year...ya know?!?!
that opens up a ton of more questions. does anyone else have one? does anyone know they did this? etc.etc.
am i the only one with a classic boomer made in the 21st century?

....thanks MONO....
if chuck norris says its wack....but MONO says its dope....then you know damn well chuck norris dont know ****!

More than likely, that box is from 2000 - especially when you point out those differences.

It would be a good idea to get the cats from Lasonic to confirm that tho. ;-)

I believe the 975 had a nice production run, was shelved for years and then re-released for another limited production run...
Meanwhile, the rounded (3rd edition) version of the 931 was probably still being sold...
The cassette was still a hot format so I can't see why either
model wouldn't be out at that time.

OK - I went and checked my 975 and I think it is a date of '96 - Not 100% sure because of the crappy hand written tag :-/

yeah we need some sort of timeline info.
mine still has the 48 watt power consumption....and with the eq sliders all up..it is pretty damn loud...
might have to open it up and get some pics to compare it to the older ones.

Does anybody else have an original purchased from new Lasonic who can verify date codes. My TRC931 also had a date code but it's somewhat not making sense. I know I bought this at Woolworths at the mall for $159 in like 1988.....

This other date code is from my Trc931 3rd edition round corners......

My Two Cents....

First my date codes are 91 - 975 and 89 - 935

A hand full of years ago (2-3) a few 975's showed up on eBay fully boxed, brand new. I read one (possibly 2) descriptions saying it was "Old Stock" from the Lasonic factory!

In deed those stickers are different, and I too would lean towards a second run, maybe of all the same parts BUT the sticker

The point being....

I think it's totally possible for there to be left over parts at the factory and with a few new parts and new stickers reprinted, your making 975's!

2000? Maybe

But if you look the stickers are same it just look like someone wrote in pen on it and I think the sticker was plain either from factory or when the sticker was stamped on machine it was off and never got stamped. I am not sure when this was produced but the written stamp seems fake :hmmm: Chris you have connection with James Wong, I have not talked with him since 2008 when I asked him about selling extra parts off the i931's.... Maybe you can ask him :-)

2000? Maybe
