Thanks so much Frank
That really helped a lot. I just gave it a good clean all over and took the buttons off...cassette keys I left on and also the tuner knob. It does not come off on mine either :-) .
The chrome looks really good again now  . I also cleaned the decals but they are really scratchy so I guess I am also gonna go with new ones.
Also thank you for the info on the knobs...I will see what I can do :-)
I also noticed that the soft eject system on the cassette doors is not working on mine...the little black noses are broken off that lock in this white think that makes them eject softly...maybe an easy fix though...but without any high priority...what is still bothering me most is the rattling right speaker.

Floyd also is going to send me some replacement chrome fake horn tweeters for my lasonic so all the chrome will be replaced except for the speaker rings and the knobs and buttons.
I will also shoot a new topic once I am really starting with it :-) .

One last questions Frank - would you say it was an easy one to work on?

I noticed on my 975 and my 951 that the tuner knob "leans" to the right. The tuner cord pulls on the pully on the back side of the knob and just yanks it enough to make it crooked. I also could not remove my tuner knob so I left that on when I did my cleaning.

How about those EQ sliders, can you pull yours off? I have one missing and I can't remove any by pulling on them.....

Frank, your 975 really does look great. Nice work.

Hey Joe,
The tuner knob on mine was leaning to the right as well.
This seems to be a common problem on these.
There were some weak plastic pieces that held the knob shaft
in place that needed to be repaired. The Tuner knob wouldn't come off at all.
As for the eq tips they did come off .
I used a flat jewelers tool on both ends of the tip to gently pry them upwards.
They came off pretty easily using this method.

Thanks For the compliment, I love the way it came out as well.
It turned out allot better than I ever thought it would.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the tuning knob on the trc975 does come off fairly easy on mine, could possibly be there is pressure on your knobs from in between and thats why they dont come off :hmmm:
