Well I got it all wrapped up today .
Things I had left to do was.
1. Thorough cleaning inside.
2. Clean boards.
3. re solder antenna connection on tuner board.
4. remove, re-work, and re-install aux input due to marginal connectivity.
5. Replace power cord.
6. replace broken antenna
7. install new mic mix knob
8. install new old stock decals
Done Done Done!!!!
I have learned through this project that Lasonic build quality leaves a bit to be desired.
Not the worst build quality and far from the best.
Anyhow I love the way it came out . it was a worth while result.
It is nearly new now and fully functional.
Enjoy the pics!!

Thanks so much guys!!!!
This is what makes this hobby for me.
Restoring these dusty Jewels into like new shape
really does it for me.
And whats more I have really learned to live with some imperfections.
That is something I havent been very good about in the past.

Wow....just mouth watering!

I have to be honest, when I first saw your 975 and knowing how well these are made, I just figured you'd be able to do an OK job...but you really stepped it up a notch on this. It was a real basket case.

Did you repaint the back, side and top?

Nice that we can still buy the front labels for these. Maybe I should buy a spare set! :-D

Any Way.....The best rebuild of 2011

Hey Thanks Chris.
It really was a basket case on the outside.
Inside was really dirty but had not been messed with.
I did not paint anything on it.
I picked all the paint specs off.
Cleaned it up real good and polished the crap out of it with
automotive product.
The top has a few stubborn spots and some paint wear in two places
but other than that looking good.
If I wanted to make it perfect I would have to paint just the top.
Im not sure If I will do that though as it is very acceptable now.

VERY acceptable in deed! You really have a knack for this kind of work!

That looks awesome! Did you remove the PCB's when you cleaned the inside? I was afraid of that tuning board with the with the thread on it so I only cleaned around that area.

Thanks,
There was no reason for me to remove the PCB's so I didn't..

When you have a 2nd set of hands and a camera to take pics of how the tuning string goes back on it's not that bad ;-) I have had to do this to at least a half dozen bbx's and all of them are working 100% one thing I will tell you is watch which way the string is wound because if it's backwards then while turning tuner knob it will go wrong direction :'-( :-O

I have quite a few questions for you to answer Frank

First, you wrote something about a tuner knob base that was broken? My tuner knobs seems wiggly, too so I really suspect it to be the same problem you had. How is this fixable?
Second, the spare knob you put on for mic mixing - is it a Lasonic one from their page? Or did you get it from a member here...because I am afraif of getting the wrong knob on the Lasonic website :-/ .
Then...removing the knobs is no biggie...can you remove the tuner button by just pulling it off? Can you remove the function knobs by just pulling them off?
And how did you remove the decals?
Oh...and can you just remove the cassette keys easily?
The chrome rings on the speakers can be removed from the inside?

I will also need to take out one of the speakers on mine because something rattles and I strongly suspect the chrome cap to be loose.
You restoration job on this one looks absolutely outstanding by the way! I would be happy if I got mine to look only half as good :-)

Q; First, you wrote something about a tuner knob base that was broken? My tuner knobs seems wiggly, too so I really suspect it to be the same problem you had. How is this fixable?

A; Some of the plastic had to be epoxied back in place that stabilize the knob. has to be done from inside.

Q; Second, the spare knob you put on for mic mixing - is it a Lasonic one from their page? Or did you get it from a member here...because I am afraif of getting the wrong knob on the Lasonic website :-/ .

A; Replacement knob I got was not from website but it was wrong one and had it to be modded to work. The knob I received was not a d shaft knob
So I cut that shaft off and epoxied an appropriate one in place of the one it had.

Q; Then...removing the knobs is no biggie...can you remove the tuner button by just pulling it off? Can you remove the function knobs by just pulling them off?

A; I could not get my tuner knob to come off so I left it in place fearing I would break it off all together. The rest came off very easily

Q; And how did you remove the decals?

A; Very easy they just peel off.

Q; Oh...and can you just remove the cassette keys easily?

A; I didn't take the cassette keys of as I had no need to do so.

Q; The chrome rings on the speakers can be removed from the inside?

A; Yes

I will also need to take out one of the speakers on mine because something rattles and I strongly suspect the chrome cap to be loose.
You restoration job on this one looks absolutely outstanding by the way! I would be happy if I got mine to look only half as good :-)
Thanks Max hope I answered all your questions well enough.
also Thanks Freddie for the compliments
