Great work!

The box looks sweet now!

I am waiting to paint one of my M70s. The weather has to warm up before I can do it outside.

Almost all fixed! :w00t:

I swapped the cassette mechanisms out because the refinished M71 had the broken board in it. Well, come to find out the cassette mech from the donor box had it's own issues too    . I was getting to routing the belt for the cassette and I noticed that the flywheel shaft was SNAPPED IN 3 PIECES on the good mech! Oh boy

So after swaping the good flywheel shaft from the bad mech into the good mech and routing the belt I was confident  :w00t:  .

I also noticed that for some reason I must have cycled the tuner boards paddle that makes the string sweep through the radio bands, so I simply rotated the paddle so that it lined up with the pins on the tuner string,

Closed up the boombox, and fired it up................

I GOT ALL THE RADIO STATIONS WORKING and THE CASSETTE FUNCTIONS ARE WORKING    . I still have no bass or treble ajustments though  . And the cassette will only play FF and RW for a couple seconds before it autostops. Must need a better belt in it, but that's all I had.

It's on the right path, and that makes me really happy  .

Thanks a lot.

I am hopefully ordering new belts today and will try to tackle swapping out the bass and treble sliders from my donor box. Then it should be 100%!

Thank god I bought both of these boomboxes, because having just bought one, I would have been up **** creek with out a paddle because they both had some big issues :dunce: .

I ordered the belts for it yesterday.

After I install those and see if I can swap out the bass/treble sliders, I will be listing it on ebay :-/ unless someone here wants it......

Thank you ;-)

I really didn't want to sell it, but the gold just isn't my thing and I really needed to make the money back that I spent on it originally  .

The new owner loves it!

Great job Joe! I just got my hands on a 71 yesterday and just cannot wait to clean it. Mine's in decent condition. Just has a lot of dust and some scuffs. It sounds great and I could immediately tell that the JVC's were built way better than others back in the day. I was also surprised that it seemed heavier than it looks.

Either way, great post. I will follow up on your other work.
