Are those homemade speakers? Because they grew by the exact amount needed to cover 2x decks, which apparently is just for show because when he’s carrying it, you can see only the upper deck is connected. Looks like in order to use the lower deck, the rca lines will need to be swapped. In fact only the upper deck is ever operated in the video.

Thanks for the remark, I didn't notice only deck was actually working.

I don't think the issue with 2 decks is the connection between them... They have 2 RCA + 1 Din... But how to power both decks up... The power supply only has 1 powerplug for tape.

BTW din does not work flawlessly on pcs5 deck it's basically more of a rec in, when plugged through din on mine I ended up with some master/slave double deck system of memory serves me well.

I don't think the speakers are home made. Jvc had a set of huge(r) speakers available, I ve seen them before and they sometimes show up on auctions sites. They also show up on some advertisement brochures and sheets.

Not sure what they were made for initially but I guess to have been made for their portable component systems, as an upgrade when used as a hifi-non-(trans) - portable system. And it's amazing they are a perfect fit height wise!

Love the CD player, never seen that one before, guess it's about as rare as technics jacket sized one...?

Also noticed the position of the elements has changed when he uses it as "portable" , so I presume he used the original plates (too small to go all the way to the bottom) to hold it all together?

The bending of that handle is kindof eerie though ...

Nevertheless it does look like a hell of a beast!

First time I came across those huge ones was when looking for those for pc5, stumbled upon a lot of those advert pages people try to sell, and noticed they sold them separately, I presume they te quite rare..didn't know they are the pc7 'S (which one day I want to have)

I'm not sure these are for the pc7 but I've seen a pc7 with these and the original speakers which look exactly the same but they're just smaller. The PC 7 is one of the biggest of the jvc compo boxes.

Upon closer examination, I see that those speakers are RB-95k, apparently, accessories that were available, probably to turn the system into a home (non-portable) system because apparently, there is a glass cabinet/stand thing available too for it and it fits it perfectly. They aren't PC-7 speakers though. Look at the images, you can clearly see that there isn't enough room to stuff 2 of those decks if using the PC-7 speakers. In fact, if you were to stack 2 decks with the PC-7, you wouldn't have much room left over for much else. Also if you look at the speaker badges, they are different between the 2 speakers.

As for connection, I dunno but if you watch the video and when the videographer pans around to show the back side, only the upper deck was tethered, and there doesn't seem to be enough inputs/outputs to connect another deck to the amp. I dunno, when you get to a certain size, it seems like maybe one should consider just getting a true home system instead.

you re definately right, not PC-7 speakers, but the accessory / upgrade home-hifi speakers.

Connection wise : there are 2 rca's on the deck (rec IN and PLAY OUT)...+ a DIN (rec/pb), so connection wise for audio its quite possible - however when I tried that (using DIN) rec only worked on one deck, the other was clearly play only. switching play and rec rca's does not work properly.
And i had to use an external DC-adaptor to feed power to the 2nd deck. Worked great using PLAY-out on one the 2nd deck, plugged into AUX though.

The "problem" is : there is only 1 power plug available for tape-deck. There is no reserve - so cd-player needs to get powered elsewhere - 2nd deck needs to get powered elsewhere...
Audio Connection wise for cd deck there shouldnt be an issue, amp/tuner has AUX in, which isnt used by the tapedeck(s).

Nice speakers, thought I saw those on a catalog page from those days.

No problem for audio connections with his (I have to admit : great looking) setup...huge problem to get CD and 2nd deck powered up though. But still looks amazing, though not realy practical or portable, but as a setup its nearly mindblowing.

If he finds a way to implement some kind of powerfeed for the cd-player and the 2nd deck, and adds a bar in the handle (it basically has a hollow steel square tube in it, so that should be rather easy)......he has a practical, usable, system - and he ll be helping the battery industry lol

I was going to do something like this with my two pc55s but unfortunately they both went down the s****** about the same time.
That really sucks bro.....hearing things like this really makes me glad I'm out of the game lad

i have 3 dc33l now but i bought them for display like my kitchen panasonic wall lad

a pc55 built like this jvc would be nuts homie as a pc55 is way more powerful than a pc5 lad

looking at this large pc5 just makes me feel strange, like I'm young again. lord ask me why though

Damn 2 pc 55s both dead ?

Would be a hell of a job finding matching speakers for a double pc-55 though.... even custom made ...for some reason the engineering behind the pc-55 speakers makes them near perfect as they are (sound, vibration wise) imo. Had to replace the screen on mine, now has led vu's and led-indicators for scan and play/cue/..direction.

Pc-5 with fostex nf-s, creme white ones , even though full range gives a pc-5 a way better sound (and a nearly same look..provided one spraypaints the domes chrome-ish (but they have a shape like the thing ladies used tu put on their fingers for stitching)

Both those boxes were semi okay until I started working on them that's when it all went to s***.
Not sure it would be so easy to link up two sets of pc55 components unless they were powered individually but basically all you would have is two of everything and that's not what I wanted.

You remember gsbadbeamer ?.
Well he showed me a box he built and let me tell you . it's the biggest baddest boombox ever made in my opinion. It dwarfs anything you've ever seen by a considerable margin. I deleted the pictures because I promised him I would never show anybody what it looks like.
