You got a damn sharp eye on you Chris. He probably could have made enough dough selling it on ebay to happily walk away from the pottery business.

I remember your video reviews on YouTube. Old school collector. Good to see you posting.

Hello,
I am also a collector of Boomboxes and I recently bought a Sanyo M-X820K, but unfortunately in a very bad condition.
Could you please send me some photos with the inside of the cassette player.
Thank you

I USE THIS STUFF TO REMOVE SCRATCHES ON PLASTIC GLASS. Brasso Metal Polish Wadding. works wonders at polishing out marks91CW0E4B02L._AC_SL1500_.jpg

Very different box to Chris’s example. The deck keys look identical to the keys of the M9998. I bet the decks are the same.View attachment 47822
Yes! Same deck as the 9998 & the 9996 & a real pig to work on too! When working these are very good decks indeed! This is the Brandt for the French market equivalent of the 9996! Was fascinating to see the deck in your Sanyo 820 - Looks very complex a mixture of electronic & mechanical methods that operate the functions! Great feeling when they come back to life! Makes it all worth it!

Hello, I recently bought a Sanyo M-X820K which I am trying to repair. Because he misses Play / Rec Head. Can you tell me, if you know, what impedance the original head has (ohm). Thank you.

Hi all, just joined. I'm a scrap metal/hard rubbish recycler and have had one of these sitting in my front room for over a year without knowing how rare a bird it is. I've found a few other boxes as well. Yep, straight off the footpath! It has the needle meters but is in the silver case? I thought that the silver ones had leds and the needles were in the woodgrain ones. Volume is really scratchy, can tune a station (only tried FM) tape is constantly ffwd/rwnd on when power on, missing antennas but otherwise in pretty good condition.IMG_2022-08-03-01-01-20-414.jpg

This box is rare I have seen more of the wood grain finish than the silver version . sounds like all she needs is some TLC and you'll have a great boombox.

I'd buy it
Mate, I can't believe it, I have 2 enquiries in my mailbox already! I found an 820 on picclick said sold on ebay for $7000! Is this an accurate price? I'm doing up a camper preparing to hit the outback, something like this sometimes comes along for a reason I reckon. Got a few others in pretty good nick as well. I'll take some photos

Judging by tbe physical condition and working condition it depends but no, that price is not accurate. Some have bought them for very little and some have paid a lot. I'd say at maximum in very goid condition it's at $1500 to $2000. Others opinions may vary but market value is a difficult thing to pin down at any given moment. Things on ebay often do not sell because of their ridiculous valuations. I wish you luck with selling it.

Yeah I had my suspicions about the price, even though it said sold. Haven't been in a hurry to get rid of it, might even have a go at repair/restore myself. Was once an airforce radio tech. so might even pull it off. Looks pretty full on in one of the previous posts.I guess f i want to sell I could list it with a reserve see what happens.
