I would say even with the low-end EQ all the way up, I'd be surprised if a frequency below 500Hz came out of this box. It's somewhat disappointing to finally find a NICE JVC in the wild and then have it sound like it does. :'-(

I like how clean it is.
The PC-2 is probably the entry level of the PC line so maybe the power output is lower.
BTW what's the wattage?
Hook up some larger woofers or do a oldy mod!!
Nice JVC though & what a find from your mom-way to go!

1. withhold the 3 bucks from you mother
ie -- FREE box for bobby

2. sell it to spud -ask for 12 bucks -
-accept 6 if he gets rough
spud buys any jvc anything --so you double your funds --
at $$LEAST

3. enact your consumer protection rights -
tell mom to stomp right back there and DEMAND a refund--
(always keep the battery cover and a few knobs)

4. delete all the "no bass" posts here-
and re-list it on s2g ::
say "big bass// out of phase" = easy fix


so -- this is still all a win-win SCORE !!!!

because its a real good looking jvc -
-and it might be quite rare ??
like there are ALWAYS 11s and 55s ans 5s on ebay --

That's a really nice find!It looks very close to my PC150 and PC200.My 150/200s will go extremely loud but have shallow bass response compared to their prominent mids.If it shares similar components to mine the lack of bass is due to very stiff ceramic drivers that don't really move.I think you could get incredible bass given it's power (if its like mine) if you refitted better woofers.I would definitely try speakers from another 3 piece to see what the box can do.

Does the 3 band equalizer have an affect on the sound?I know the 150 and 200s are notorious for bad non working EQs.Both of my boxes have dead EQs.Someone in the old forum cleaned and re-cleaned his sliders until they finally started working.He said it wasn't worth it as he still couldn't get much bass out of his example.

Depending on your music of choice the lack of bass might not be important.As I've said repeatedly old school sound is everything about the mids/highs and volume.At least in the case of my 150 and 200,they really deliver! I'm sure your box will really shine given the right type of music.Try some rock and see how it sounds.

btw-I've always considered these modes to be really beautiful.

You double checked the foams around the woofers? Could be rotted and not allowing the cone to move and therefore creating no bass. It's happened to a few I've picked up and the sound is completely thin.

Easy way to tell is put something in you know has a nice thump to it and seeing if the cone moves correctly, of if it just sits there vibrating.

Just a couple of ideas anyway. She's a BOSS lookin' 3piece! Good luck!!
