That's very nice blue!

But the red/maroon KILLLLS it!!!

Rock On.

:agree:

Actually, I think either somebody boosted/changed the color on that pic or painted it that shade of blue 'cause I've never seen one that color for sale.

Blue 8600RM's do exist tho...

but like I said, not in that shade of blue. This one looks like steel blue.

Finally I fixed the deck.

It was not easy!

The good thing is that I learned a lot. This is the most difficult box to work on because of those front panels with cassette push buttons to light the LEDs for Play, Pause as Rec. If they built it all on one piece things would have been so easy.

Okay everything works when the front of the box is not in. I mean when you press the cassette functions when the front part of the box is in place everything works. When the front part of the box with speakers and all are in place cassette shuts off.

Finally I learned what was going on. You need to take the front panel with cassette functions buttons off and then tuck the wire leads without touching any buttons and perfectly align everything. A slight misalignment will make deck functions go crazy.

The cassette door release when you press eject and all are also a disaster on this box.

I took plenty of pictures and will add them soon.

The most difficult part is putting the front cover of the box and aligning the tape door spring and the cassette function switches.

Here is the trick.

The cassette function switch panel can be easily removed from the front in the beginning and we can unplug the short connection wire to the function LEDs. Once we take that panel out the cassette door can be detached. Without doing this and if you try to align, it is very difficult and cassette might shut off and also very difficult to get the spring and cassette door in place.

Cassette function section can be easily removed by pressing the lower part of that section upward from the middle. One can see that lock in the pic. The other corners on the top edges hook first before you push the lower part inward.

The same way one can work on the 8600HC also.

I thought pics will say a lot!

I am adding some deck pics also for future reference.

The motor got a double pulley. One square and flat belt goes on it.
