Poor FM reception is caused by these crappy power supplies.

All of you should tune a boombox or a FM tuner on a free frequency ( like 87,5 wich is mostly unused)
You will hear a lot of crap caused by smps in your house . I checked once , and the distance between a boombox and a smps was 10 meters.
So strong are these interference pos. When a box has a built in smps , yeah . FM reception is gone

Do SMPS affect cellular signals too?

I know Techmoan doesn't figure people would want to see the insides of the radios/devices he reviews but that's actually my favorite part. I was disappointed that he was not able to get it apart. I am sure he might have had to send that back when he was done. It was either snapped or possibly glued shut. Either way, if you didn't want someone taking it apart, whatever method they used, worked ;-) but I like to see how serviceable (or not) that it is. Hoping if I need to service mine with a new belt, etc. that it comes open once the screws are removed. Another reason is because I might want to adjust the cassette speed and they do not always give you an access hole in boomboxes to do that. Most of these I find are off just a bit. Even if they are accurate at the factory, the belt relaxes and the lube and mechanics wear in. Resistance goes down and speed creeps up. On the plus side, I know what the cassette transport looks like outside of the case but other than that, I imagine it to be surface mount chips like most fo the modern radios such as the aiwa backtrack, etc.. Being a single motor design on the decks, at least you would only need to calibrate one transport and the other should follow.
I service my own electronics and old stuff i buy, i would really hate to have to pay 1k + with accessories i have into the founders edition to not be able to work on the thing . Its a bit concerning that Bumpboxx may have intentionally glued that review unit up they sent to techmoan. Are they hiding an ugly truth of cheap crappy parts inside it or ? I dunno, seems a bit suspect. Maybe its nothing and production units can be disassembled . We now have 9 days before our cards are charged, would like to know about this before then. They should have sent a unit to Adam Savage, he would have got it open, lol.

I don't know if one could check the spectrum with a spectrum analyser by putting a wire near a smps.
Spectrum analysers are for checking transmitters to see if they are clean under or above the set transmitting frequency
