Yes, the video from Flossy. More an advertisement than a real review.
Flossy is a very good reviewer. His following solidifies that. I thought his impressions came from a perspective of reliving the feeling of his original boombox. The BB-777 wasn't designed to be a technical marvel. It was designed to look and feel like a real boombox from the 80's with modern upgrades. With upgraded power and sound. It does that in spades.

One feature request for the BB-777 (if people behind BB-777 are reading this topic):

Please consider adding manual recording level controls for cassette recording.

Many retro boombox fans enjoy making real tape recordings and manual rec level adjustment would add a lot of authenticity and user control compared with automatic levels only.

Since the unit does not have classic VU meters, perhaps the existing loudness LEDs could be repurposed in recording mode to show input level / peak level.

That would make the recording function much more serious and closer to the golden era boombox experience.

You may not expect the high record sound quality on this.

I'm pretty sure I read that they would consider exploring if this is possible via a firmware update later. It was a question on the Kickstarter comments section.

If it can be added later via firmware, that would be excellent. Manual rec level would really enhance the cassette experience.

If not, maybe I’ll hold out for the inevitable MK2 with VU meters :D

Highly unlikely. I wouldn't count on a MK2 unit being made and Rob has already hinted nobody else is getting a MK1 unit this year...not until the pledger's are all honoured. What I do expect is more competition coming into the market...likely out of China, perhaps FIIO.

he's also backed it on kickstarter, he won't mince his words, if he doesn't like the performance, he'll say.
I just watched his most recent boombox review. He reviews a Sharp GF-777 and mentioned they reached out to him about sending a unit but hasn’t heard anything more.
Flossy’s video got me really pumped when I heard the bass coming from the bb when he was playing it in the park. I agree it wasn’t a review as much as a promotion. Bumpboxx is doing a great job with promotion and I for one is very excited about getting my hands on it.

So, I originally had the BB-777 selected and a carry bag only. I decided to go back in and add an additional battery pack and charger for $79 because it will go to $129 after the kickstarter.

I figure the radio will likely only play for 5 hours at the volumes I listen to and I like to be portable. Something in the back of my mind just told me that I should get another battery. It might be because of my experience with my GPO Brooklyn. It's not like the Aiwa backtrack where you can just stop at a store and get new batteries when you are on the go without a wall outlet. Up until I did the "Melly Mod" on my DJ-Tech with a larger deep cycle SLA, it would only run for about 5 hours before it ran out of juice. Now I get 12 to 15 so that's sorted.

Once my BB-777 comes in, the Brooklyn will be up for sale if there are any GPO Brooklyn fans out there.

Transistorized, did you like some of the other accessories?
I saw that there were 3 demo cassettes, cassette cases, CD cases, etc.?

I noticed when adding the battery that they appeared to have added additional items since the kickstarter first opened. Or it could be that I am just now seeing them.

I might go back in and scroll through. Might see something I like. As far as cassettes, I am a sucker for reel to reel style. I think they look great in the cassette windows :-)
