The UK meet will be the first trip for my new travel rig.
The Pelican case 1605 to carry my well worn, well loved Lasonic TRC-920
This case has been outfitted with foam inserts that hold the radio snugly
I also created a letter for the inside for all the baggage personnel that will be opening this case to inspect it, asking them to please put the radio back in properly. It's in 4 different languages, English, Italian, German and Chinese
Under the radio is a brand new package of D cells and my Blu-Fuz strap
I also bought these shock drop detector to go on the case.
I'm really trying to make this a no brainer. I know they need to open the case to have a look and I don't have a problem with that, but when I flew to Italy, I had this same radio in a large suitcase, encased in the same foam, just multiple layers. I don't know if it was the inspectors at LAX in Los Angeles, or in Brussels that opened it and then wadded up the foam and stuffed the radio in anyway they could as opposed to putting it back they way it was, but of course it showed up with one speaker grill punched in.
I put the shock drop detector badge right by the handle, hoping that they will realize it's semi traceable. The case will also be insured. Depending on the cost of insurance, I might insure it for a stupid price in hopes of discouraging otherwise sh*ty service.
The last thing I need to buy are TSA locks.
