Im thinking of getting , later,

a conion C100 ...

or a Sharp GF 777z ...

are these portable???

or a little overboard???

because i usually carry mines over to the coffee shop and around town,

playing and breaking like a fool.

( its a bit in the spirit of my previous post )

They are indeed portable. However, you will have to carry around 30 to 35 pounds (13.6 to 15.8 kilograms). Those boxes are heavy already before adding batteries. ;-)

:agree: with the other sharpies, these are portable but big and heavy so beware. If your desire is to tote them around there are better choices, maybe not as flashy but easier to cary.

you will need coffee to carry those two beasts and maybe a revolver to protect them in public from theft .

I carry a box to work everyday and I found the C-100 to be a bit too heavy for me to carry comfortably. The one time I walked to work with it the batteries died halfway down as well... which didn't ease the burden in the least!

I've not even attempted to take the 777 yet as that's even heavier again.

I find M-70 size/weight radios the best for ease of portability, up to 931 size.

That being said /i've never taken any of my 3 piecers out for a walk... I just don't trust the speakers to stay on them.

Rock On.

I think glues talking more about impact, inertia and centrifigal force rather than extreme SPL power.

As for size, these 2 guys are portable, as in lift from house to car, from car to office, etc.  However, much as these things are worth $$ wise, I probably wouldn't want to risk lugging them around anyplace further than my front porch but that's mainly because my clumsy weakling self can't be trusted further than that... :w00t:

My thoughts exactly!!! I always worry when I pack a 3 piecer - I can see the speakers falling off!!

No c100F, gf777, or j1, trc975 is portable in my book - too much box to pack for a long distance!

Best walkaround boxes are, IMHO:

Sanyo M9990
JVC M70
Sharp GF-9191 or GF-9292

Of these, the M70 is the heaviest and loudest. The Sanyo has the best overall sound quality, and the Sharp looks the best, sounds good and goes plenty loud. I think it's the lightest of that bunch too... When I was 14, I would carry my 9292 loaded up with D-cells all day.

These can frequently be found on German eBay. In fact, that's where the 9191 pictured here came from...
