Nice place to hide the antenna. I was to the point where I was going to install a real oldschool telescoping antenna.

There are about 30% of these radios that have lost one of the channels. There is a faulty board they will send you a replacement , just ask.

Is it just the tuner that looses a channel or the main amp?

I thought about installing a telescopic one myself and if the movement of the antenna did not work that was going to be my route. Haven't had any issues yet with losing a channel so crossing my fingers on that one. I am currently debating on putting a on/off click switch on the left (blank) side to keep the power turned off to the led equalizer bar. No point in the battery draining to the bar when you can't see it in the daylight anyways. Probably going to order if I can, if not make some different woofer covers. I would like something a little more retro instead of the rear trunk woofer covers that are on there now.

I added retro speaker grills and tweeter grills to give my Bumpboxx a more "classic" look.

I really like the woofer covers you grabbed. Also the tweeter cover are awesome too bad they didn't come in either a stainless steel/chrome or a black!

My Bumpboxx lost the left channel one day but I switched it off and back on and it came back and so far so good. Been working okay ever since so not sure if I should worry about it. I just rock it loud and proud :-)

Until you've seen one (or had to carry one) nothing prepares you for the size of these things! I think they can do well in the UK.

Chris said it was the "destroyer of worlds" (or something similar) and he was not wrong. Sounds great at all volume levels and boy is it loud!

At the meet, we played various music, modern Dub Step, Classic Funk, Disco, Classic Hip Hop, Classic Heavy Metal. All of them sounded amazing and there was never a need to re-EQ it or make any adjustments.

Also, this myth that because it's not stereo ruins the sound is just hog wash. I defy you to tell it's not stereo. If your head, is that close to that radio that you can tell, then you already have serious hearing damage! :-O That's not a joke.

I wonder if the amp summs the stereo signals together into mono or is the signal mono at the source?,Or maybe its a one channel amp.

There's nothing wrong with mono sound ,sometimes I prefer mono because it eliminates the need for stereo separation.

I'd assume that the original Bumpboxx Freestyle concept was a stereo design. Due to the limitations of a 12 volt power source and cost concerns, a cheaper mono amp was ultimately used as more RMS power is available from a Mono 12 volt amp than a better sounding but less powerful 12 volt stereo unit.

I can say that from a distance of 15+ meters from my V5.0 box, switching from stereo to mono (via my iPhone), there is a very noticeable difference to the sound.

But the Bumpboxx was never about sound quality,, just sheer power!

It's been some time since I spoke with Rob about this, but it was my understanding that it was a bridged amp to double the power of the battery he was using. I don't know where they stand today. I have seen some of the next generation stuff and all I can say is they will make this thing sound like a baby's rattle! Rob is going for the furthest limits of portable power. I will say this, his next big unit, due out in the fall will be, as he stated "3X more powerful than the Freestyle". His words to me last night were "...on 2 this thing hurts your ears indoors and two plugged in together is unbearable"

Sound quality is one of those things that is open to interpretation. After meeting the UK guys, I can say, they LOVE the really high fidelity units. Sound quality over brute force (C100, 931). They seemed to think it was pretty good as did I. Even at low volumes, it is clean. Especially when you consider how loud it goes. Back in the day, you could have clean or you could have power. If you had power you had hiss at the lower volumes. Modern amps are amazing. AND CHEAP!

For me, my ears are blown up from 25 years on stage standing next to a jet engine for a guitar player. Hell, I can't even hear that thing till its on 4

I think, if you've heard it and don't like it, then it's not your taste, if you haven't heard it, I would give it a listen, it might surprise you.
