Here is a pic with the DJ Tech. As you can see the Bumpboxx is massive. Bigger than the Wheelie. When I first got it I took it to my neighbors across the street because he saw it on Facebook and was interested in buying one for his son. His house is 3 doors down from mine and across the street. I turned it on about 60% volume and started down my driveway. He came outside before I could get to the sidewalk. He could not believe the bass kick (me either). He said from inside his house he thought someone had a home stereo playing. It has a home stereo bass kick, that is for sure. If you crank it half volume indoors it pounds like a house party. Very loud yet controlled without distortion. This holds true to near full volume. At full volume there is a minute amount of discernible distortion in the mid range...non at all in the bass. Those 10 inch woofers beg to be pounded and they answer with a huge kick in return. I tested it next to my Sony FH 207 which has very powerful bass and it was a no contest. The Bumpboxx on battery killed a Sony FH component system that was plugged in! This box was designed to play outdoors and it makes no bones about it. Power starts early in the volume range and climbs steadily as you turn the knob. This is not a low volume indoor box...it begs to be blasted outside. If you get one, and you should, you will be blasting in amazement outdoors. This is the absolute king crusher of outdoor boomboxes...no contest.

Hey Mel what does the back look like? Is it ported or sealed?
2 ports in the back. The rest is sealed. Inside it has a wall to isolate each speaker like the DJ Tech. Hans the bass is incredible! You have to come by for a listen.

Think I may order 2 more to go with my blue one. Res and white. Link the 3 for some yard time play. My friend may order another 5

3 linked would be club level bass. I plan on getting a black one as well. Bumpboxx is going to release a chrome accessory package with chrome grills, corners, and other pieces. I'm getting that as well.

Oh wow, thanks! That is super kool..
I see the hype now! Especially after hearing Mellys testimonial, I might actually consider purchasing one..
Just couldnt get past the looks.. reminds me too much of a "cartoony-version" of a classic boombox, like a gigantic boombox pencil sharpener..
But, I realize now that this is a Nighttime Box, used for crankin up the party! :dj:
(Just like that certain girlfriend you only bring out in dimly lit areas, but she still gets the job done!)

Mel, you have been on this site for a very long time and your words are to be taken as gospel. I am looking forward to hearing one of these beasts.

All I can say is, IT'S ABOUT TIME someone built it....

Chris I was thinking "I am so glad someone built this" while listening to it. I never imagined a battery powered boombox could produce bass like this. From 100ft away it even hits hard. The sound really projects loud and clear at long distance. I know you love boxes that crank...this one cranks and then some. You truly need to crank it up in person to appreciate it. Video does not do it justice.

Good, probably less resonance from the case, since it's ported. Plus, since the ports are in the back, you get some of the sound projected backwards, which is what you need at something like a picnic. The DJ Tech loses a lot of volume when you walk behind it or even just to the side of it.

So glad you like it!

When you link it to another Bumpboxx, does it make one of them left and the other right, the way Aiwa does it?

I dont think so. It's designed to have multiple units linked together so I would doubt it.

If I'm not mistaken, the Aiwa connects wirelessly? Does the Bumpboxx link up via cables or wirelessly?

No Chris, the classics definately still have their place! :-)
Modern D class amps do offer a much better performance level on DC power.

Simple really - D class power and big speakers in a sealed or ported cabinet = happiness!!
The big Boombox is back!!!!!

I think it's time someone finally upgraded the amp in a Wheelie to 'D' power - Bumpboxx performance AND the classic look!! **** yeah!!!!!

Sweet!!! :-)

Maybe all this interest in the 'big box category' might prompt someone to dig up another dead brand Aiwa style.

Imagine a Bumpboxx style box but built by a resergent Sanyo!!! I don't think BumpBoxx are going to have this segment to themselves for long.

I'm drooling over here! :-)

Sounds like it's nearly a must have... I'm not totally sold on the looks. Curious about the chrome grilles you mentioned.

I know I know, "Chrome don't get ya home."

But it might give it a little more flash. I'm tempted though.
